~ THE RICE SCHOOL ~

The site you see today, across the street, there once stood

 

the Rice School which was eventually demolished.
Probably known as school No. 4, see map section of 1835 below.

 

What is shown as "Worcester" was the Post Rd to Worcester, which became
Old Northboro Road when the Post Road known now as Rt 20 was relocated
The Rice School No. 4 is shown on the south side of the Post Rd.
The road off the Post Road and along side of the school was not named
but is now Glen Street.  The "G. Rice" Homestead is still standing

This was drawn after the Old Post Road was re-located
The star shows the Rice School which is now on the north side of the Old Post Road
The Old Post Road was re-named Northboro Road and Glen Street was named
