NO. 10 SCHOOL ~

On this property, a parking lot for a resturant, located on the corner of Concord Road and Rt. 20
was once were you could find.........

the No. 10 School house, later known as the Warren School.

This building was still standing in the mid 1960's and had been occupied by a company that made tonic known as "Bill's Beverages".  When the property was sold, the building was demolished and lost forever.  One wonders why the Administration at that time did not buy the building and move it to City owned property for preservation as a historic building.  This is the same time that downtown Marlborough was being demolished to make way for new and modern buildings.

This old school shows up on the map of 1835.  This map was a survey of Marlborough prior to 1829 and was published in 1835.  You can use the map to find this school and the others which existed then by going here (click on the blue dot)

The early records of March 8, 1803 discuss how many weeks the schools would be open.  At this time only No.'s 1 through 7 were spoke of.  This would indicate that this school No. 10 and No.'s 8 and 9 were built after 1803 but prior to 1829.
