~ HILDRETH SCHOOL ~ The property you see below, Farrell Field and the MYBA Baseball field,
was once the location of..........![]()
the original Hildreth Street School. This grand building with it's three floors was probably
demolished about 1931 when it's successor................![]()
was built. The new school was completed in 1931 at a cost of $159,000.00. It was built by
T. P. Hurly Construction Company of Marlborough. This picture shows what it looked like in
about 1955. It was modern in structure and heated by oil with up to date ventilation and
sanitation systems. It was built during Mayor Amedee A. Martel administration. Today it looks like.....![]()
this and currently is not used for grade school students. The new Hildreth School.......

in it's time, competed in atheletic competitions with other grade schools and the winning school
was present a cup. The Hildreth school won this cup in competition in 1931, 1932 and 1933. This
cup was found in the wall of the school during renovations and was rescued by John Ghiloni.![]()
The below is a picture of a 1911 graduation diploma from the original Hildreth school.
It was issued to Henry Napoleon Laforme, great grandfather of John Ghiloni.
Mr. Ghiloni works for the City and is reponsible for all of the schools in Malrborugh.
