BOYD, COREY & CO.'S FACTORY, MAIN STREET.

The present proprietor of the Boyd & Corey shop commenced business with his brother Joseph, in 1837, in the Bennett house on Maple St.; soon moved to the site of the present Exchange Building. Built and occupied the Marsh House opposite Union Church, in 1841. Built the brick shop, now owned by Morse Brothers, on Maple Street, in 1846. Joseph retiredand Thomas Corey joined in 1847. In 1855 Boyd & Corey bult the brick shop, now the Central House. In 1858 Mr. Boyd built Boyd's Block, and in 1866 put in 40 feet connection, and occupied the upper portion of the entire block. In 1865 Mr. Corey retired and went South; retentered the firm in 1868 and in 1871 the present shop was erected. Several additions have since been made until now it is the largest shop in the country, it's floors covering an area of more than one and one-half acres. The production is Boots and Shoes for the Western and Southern market.
