PICTURES OF GRAVESTONES ~

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PICTURES OF GRAVESTONES:

This site contains but a few images of gravestones for the purpose of showing the style and type that exist with-in Marlborough's older cemeteries.

I have been fortunate to meet some one who has undertaken a most ambitious project which is that of taking pictures of every gravestone in the following cemeteries.

OLD COMMON

SPRING HILL BURIAL GROUNDS

ROCKLAWN INCLUDE THE CHIPMAN PORTION

ROBIN HILL

BRIGHAM

WILSON

WEEKS

It should be noted that these pictures have been taken with a digital camera and further enhanced to bring out as much detail as possible.  Some stones, due to age and material, do not show much detail however these are a limited amount of stones.

****** Ginny has added a web page.... go here>>>>>

These pictures have been saved onto a CD which will be made available to the public.  The CD will contain the pictures and an index along with some limited transcriptions of some of the cemeteries.  This CD along with this site will provide any one who has an interest in a grave, the necessary information for inclusion in their genealogy.

A personal note from the Web Master, John Buczek.  I have met with this person and she has shown me what she has to date.  The quality of the images is superior and the format which she will provide will be most usefull.  For any of you who have visited and used the information from this site can be assured that the CD is a most important addition to your library.

Here is what she has to say..........

"It was a pleasure meeting you and hopefully we didn't bore you. (us genealogists tend to be a bit obsessive). As I said my target completion date is the end of August and feel free to spread the word that a CD will be available soon for $20 plus postage (which I think is $1.50 in US - don't know what it would be outside US.)  - This will cover the CD costs plus recoup some of the $$ we put in to do the project.

Please Note: Recent conversation with Ginny.  The CD will remain at $20.00, however I am going to increase the fee for shipping which includes the sleeve, packaging and mailing, to $5.00.  Total cost will be $25.00.

If people would like to let me know of their interest they can e-mail me directly and I will cut CDs for them at the end of the summer when I finalize our research.  Once I index the final cemetery I will pull together a webpage listing all of the unique surnames in my database and the cemeteries transcribed."

"I have done 7 cemeteries in Marlborough so far - also included are cemetery maps and scenic views of each cemetery.

Old Common - fully transcribed (plus 1 addition over Franklin Rice's book)
Spring Hill Burial Grounds - fully transcribe (plus 18 additions over Franklin Rice's Book)
Rocklawn including the Chipman portion - currently indexed and photo'd only - am looking at transcribing
Robin Hill - - fully transcribed
Brigham - fully transcribed plus 12 additions over Franklin Rice's book
Wilson - fully transcribed (contains some of the bordering Evergreen grave markers as well)
Weeks - fully transcribed

All I have left to do is transcribe Rocklawn - and pull together the final index.  This has been a lot of fun."
