~ THE 1930's ~
A new Chief, Samuel Daoust, was appointed in 1930. One of his changes was disliked by the citizenry. He felt a paramilitary look would earn respect, but the light colored khaki uniforms were no match for the dirty fires that were imposed on them.

During his nineteen years , his constant request would be for a second ladder truck. While in office, he procured two 1935 American LaFrance pumpers.  He also procured a surplus army truck for brush fires, relieving the larger pumpers.
