AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF HELSTON

HELSTON 1961

Looking down Meneage Street.

Note the main car park to the right minus the Library and Somerfield!

Looking down on Grange Road.

Meneage Hospital (top centre) is in full use!

Note all the open fields!

Looking down Godolphin Road.

Photographs added 5/11/07

Taken sometime towards the end of the 1960`s.
Notice how small Helston appears compared to the present day.
The new Naval `Married Quarters` in Bulwark and Albion Roads (bottom left) appear to stand out in the sunshine whilst the houses below Helston School and Water-ma-Trout (top left) have`nt even been built yet! The area to the east of Clodgy lane (right side) is almost all open countryside. Certainly no sign of TESCO and all those new houses around the present day football field.
