New Years day (torn) Sot
off & went to WM. McCAINS from that then (torn) went to FREDERICK
FISHER to a Frolic (torn) til in the night & went home with WM.
McCAIN (torn) people & staid till morning

I went (torn) home to uncles.
In the afternoon I went to JNO OSBORNES to JNO McNEELYS for
to see him for to see when he would bring me some corn that he was oweing
of me.

I began again for to run
my still but (o!) I am not very fit for hard Leabour since the 13 of November)
I run one still full of singlings then Masht a run for myself.

then I sot off in order for to go to Dadys (I have not been there of a
long time before) I went to JAS. BECKETS I had not much tume for
to tarry there. for the day was far spent & I had a Desire for to see
more of my people this evening because I had been long absent. I sot off
from BECKETS I was not out of sight before I met my brother WM.
which accited me some ?? he turns with me & we rides up to PETER
RAPS I calls for a Quart of sider (torn) Drank it from that we rode
to our brother in laws (torn) we had but a short spec to tarry. I rode

11 verse -- uncle had --- MILLER Baptised. When sermon was over
we went ---- I run one stillfull of singlings more. I am some what Discontented
in mind. that that I have been pursuing these 20 months seems as if it
might be going to naught. I know not for what but However I shall if helth
permits I shall visit her on Wednesday Next & if she does not like
well she may Lit it along for I shall not trouble her much more----- I
rode a peace with her this evening. She is not Named here but it is many

-- from that to WM. GAULT's I made but a short stay --- till I went
to Wm. McCAINS that was the place that I went for to Lodge at that
Night When I left home & I staide all Night. Ah & how kindly I

I give him 10 gallons of Whiskey & V Late in the evening Raid I went
up to HUGH RODGERS this morning his 2 sons was got home from Charleston
(WM. & JAS) Chilly cloudy very Early in the morning I went from HUGH
RODGERS home to uncle & run 2 stillful of singlings which was the Last
of the run that I began yeasterday by this time it was Late I fulled my
still in order for to Double was all Night in the still house made 11-1/2

Dadys I went to PETER RAPS. There I called in for to Discourse the
girles a While the one I made choice of was Miss NANCY I Discourst

but Little stay till I went to Dadys & staid till morning

his wife & her brother HUGH came to Dadys from there I went
with them over to my brother WM. from that to PETTER RAPS
from that my brother & his wife & I turned back to WM. from
that to Dadys again from that my 2 brothers & I went to JNO. AIKENS
we had not much time to tarry till we turned to Dadys & I staid all
Night.

he went to HUGH RODGERS & I went home to uncles & began
for to single a run of Whiskey for myself. I run 3 stillfuls by this time
it was Late in the Night WM. RODGERS was with me we went to bed
and slept.

run that I began yeasterday. Then I had my mare sadled in order for to
pay a visit I rode to WM. McCAINS & about a mile from there
was some to be conveyed together fer to sing Music SALLY McCAIN
& I went to JAS GAULTS to the singing when they ware done singing
we went back to her --- till morning (Golly Moses)

??BERY of 3 Dollars 65 cents payable in 10 months it was on
JAS.
McELROYS account he gets 30 gallons of Whiskey & I got another
on JNO McELROY on JAS. Account of that is 13 Dollars &
75 Cents of it was on JAS. account by the Note was for 16 &
75 Cents another on JAS WILLSON for Cash 13 Dollars. I run 3 stillfuls
of singlings by this time it was Late in the Night I went to bed for to
Sleep for I have not slept much this week before.

I had sot my yeast I had my mare saddled & rode to JNO STEPHENSONS
to CAPT. DAVIES Muster. When Muster was over I went home & ELI
WEITS was there waiting for to sell me a black mare we had a hard spell
trading but at Last we made a trad I give him 48-1/4 Dollars for his MARE
paid him ther him & I walkt up to HUGH RODGERS & staid till
morning

for his Credetors to settle their account against the 15 of March. We went
to ANDREW WALKERS Esqr from that by WM. RODGERS JAS GAULTS WM.
McCAINS to DAVID STARNS We had some business with him but he
was not at home therefore we did not alight but turned back as far as WM.
McCAINS & they friendly invited us for to stay & we did (Golly

not worke well However when I sot her a run I went to the Mill for to help
uncle for to pick the Mill Stones. Before I was long gone She Blowed off
the head & made a Dreadful Sputter I run it out I filled her again
& run her once more- this day Mr McCAIN came for to make me

one McGILL preacht when sermon was over I went home to uncles--
I feel some what solitary in mind

that is if neither of our mind deviets from what the are at present (golly
Moses) I past about 2 hours in her imbraces & then rode home again
to uncles- I promiest for to visit her Tomorrow 3 weeks if helth permits

came to Dadys the day being wet we could do nothing so him & I sot
off & went to my brother WM. from that to PETER RAPS
& got each of us a Bottle of Whiskey & came back to WMS
from that to Dadys the day continues wet so that I got nothing done this
day

I was clearing out a Meadow
in the evening I walked over to my brothers WM. but did not tarry

the plum Trees and peach
trees are almost in Bloom so that I expect their fruit is Destroyed by
the frost this day I sot too for to fur out my corn ground- I am for to
crop with my father this year. I have undertaken for to worke about 16
acres & workes the half with my own Mare & gets 1/2 what corn I
make

the evening --- --- walking on my fathers yard I heard the first WHIPPER

had heard it before.

WILSONS he had som hands Makeing of Rails he insisted on my for to
Light so I did & sot & Drank som Whiskey with him & the urged
on me for to Drink a Dish of Coffoe with them so I did- I then went on
to uncles & staid all night

I left uncles & rode up to Dadys-

& had hands PLANTING corn- this is the first cor I ever undertook for
to worke---- Nor indeed I have wroght but little in the Summer---- 10 years--.
This season I have taken 15 acres for to work for my father he finds one
horse & ----- & I worke it & gets half what I make

out corn ground a field of fathers that he is for to attend this Season.

for th hear preaching it was 2 Dutch Ministers that preacht the first that
Spoke Spoke in the gearmin Language & it seemed unto me like foolishness.
The other Spoke in our tongue. He took his text in the Evenjalist John

people was not all got there till they ware Both done. WILLIAM McCAIN

3 or 4 miles along with them (his Daughter SALLY McCAIN was along)
