CETORELLI, Mitchell, 85, of Bellaire, Ohio, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, in the East Ohio Regional Hospital.

He was born March 18, 1922, in Bellaire, a son of the late Frank and Augusta Berti Cetorelli.

Mitch was a retired employee of the Ormet Corp.; was a member of the American Legion Post 52; VFW Post 626; Bellaire Eagles FOE 371; Sons of Italy 754; a Catholic by faith; and a Navy veteran of WWII.

Mitch is survived by two sons, Donald and his wife, Nell, of St.

Clairsville, Ohio, and Brian and his wife, Linda, of West Bellaire, Ohio; a

sister, Vera McCann and her husband, Stanley, of West Bellaire; a brother,

Libero Cetorelli and his wife, Florence, of Long Island, N.Y.; and two

grandchildren, Adam Cetorelli and Joe Wheeler.

Friends will be received on Sunday, January 20, 2008 from 2-8 p.m., at the Bauknecht- Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441-37th St., Bellaire, where services will be held on Monday, at 10 a.m., with Msgr. Gene Mullett officiating.

Entombment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Sons of Italy will conduct services on Sunday at 7 p.m., in the funeral

    Martha R. Cline, age 98, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio formerly Monroe County

Ohio died Monday Jan. 14, 2007 at the Crestview Manor Nursing Home

Lancaster, Ohio. She was born Oct. 15, 1909 in Benton Twp. Monroe County Ohio a daughter of the late Forest H. Dye and Cora Fox Dye.

    She was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, and her

husband John D. Cline.

    She is survived by her son: Ivan (Joan) Winland - Pickerington, Ohio, 1

sister: Lois Graham - Zanesville, Ohio, 2 brothers: Willis Dye - New

Matamoras, Ohio, Franklin Dye - New Matamoras, Ohio, 3 Granddaughters:

ENSINGER, Walter F., 89, of Beautiful Ridge, Clarington, Ohio, died

Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville,

W.Va. He was born February 13, 1918 in Monroe County, Ohio, the son of the late Fred and Pearl (Lude) Ensinger.

He was retired from Ferro Alloys in Clarington; and was a Protestant by faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Ensinger; and a sister, Virginia Clegg.

Survivors include a nephew, Richard Clegg of Clarington; two nieces, Donna Craig of Clarington and Marian Mc Gary of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister- in-law, Violet Ensinger, also of Clarington; and an aunt, Verla Lude of Woodsfield, Ohio.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.      

Interment in Clarington Cemetery, Clarington.

Hess, Beverly Ann Hess nee Makofsky

Times Leader, Martins Ferry, Ohio, dated, January 18, 2008

HESS, Beverly Ann (Makofsky,) 76, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 30, 1931, in Bellaire, Ohio, the daughter of William A. and Helen S. (Kennedy) Makofsky.

She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and gifted in music and taught for over 45 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Ike'' Hess, who died July 22, 2000; a son, David W. Hess; a grandson, David W. Hess; and a brother, William "Bill'' Makofsky.

She is survived by her children, Ronald C. Hess of the home, Lawrence W. (Sandra) Hess of Bridgeport, Marvin D. (Christina) Hess of Bellaire, Karen S. (Mark) Coen of Zanesville and Alan (Connie) Hess of Zanesville; 16 grand children; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grand children; sister, Katherine Kozlowski of St. Clairsville; and brother, Robert ''Bob'' (Darlene) Makofsky of Clarington.

A memorial service will be held at Kingdom Hall, Sunday, January 20, 2008, at 3 p.m.

HESS, Evan Edward, 2, of Beallsville, died Thursday, January 3, 2008, in Akron Children's Hospital.

He was born August 29, 2005 in Wheeling, W.Va., the son of Terra NicoleDarby of Beallsville and Jason Edward Hess of Clarington.     Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Kiliegh and Alexis; his

grandparents, Christina (Ronald Bartolo) Darby of Flushing, Richard Darby of Beallsville, Richard and Linda Stewart Hess of Clarington; great-grand

mother, Faye (Bill) Hickey of Shadyside, and great-great-grand mother, Edith Poole of Woodsfield; aunts and uncles, Eric (Marie Dick) Darby of Columbus, Dianne (Greg) Miller of Lynchburg, Ohio and Ricky (Lorinda) Hess of Clarington; great-aunts Theresa (Mike) Kehl of Woodsfield and Erin (Clyde Palmer) Austin of Beallsville; cousins, Noah Miller, and Angella and Melanie Hess.

Koval, Andrew P. Koval

Daily Jeffersonian, Cambridge, Ohio, dated, January 12, 2008

BYESVILLE -- Wake services were 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, for Andrew P. Koval, 81, of Cambridge, who died Friday (Jan. 11, 2008) at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville. Services at St. Benedict Catholic Church will be 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Fr. Robert Borer officiated. Calling hours were also held Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial took place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cambridge, with military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

He was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Buckeyeville, son of the late Joseph and

Sophia (Motil) Koval.

Mr. Koval retired from NCR, following 26 years of service. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and Cambridge VFW Post 2901. He was a 1943 graduate of Community High School and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.

He was locally well known and respected for his frequent "letters to the editor" in The Daily Jeffersonian. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and hunting with family and friends.

He also enjoyed using his hands for the construction and maintenance of his home and surrounding property, a place his family truly called home. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered for the man of noble character that he was.

He was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Feyko, Julia Santay, Clara Koval, Ann George, Carrie Koval and Sophia Medvetz; and two brothers, John and Joseph Koval.

He leaves his wife, Betty R. (Miracle) Koval, whom he married May 20, 1950; two sons, Andrew D. (Cindy) Koval of Cambridge and Tim (Carrie) Koval of Senecaville; four daughters, Rebecca (Jack) Perry of Canton, Melissa Kovalof New Concord, Jolene (Bob) Crum of Louisville, Ky., Jamie (Brian) Sakach of Centerville; two brothers, Michael (Norma) Koval of Malaga and Edward Koval of Cambridge; a sister, Helen Koval of Cambridge; 10 grandchildren, Carly, Danielle, Caitlin, Jerod, Brandon, Sarah, Briana, Ian, Genevieve and Logan; and a great-grandchild Logan.

LeMASTERS, Amos James "Jim," 74, of Shadyside, Ohio, formerly of Bellaire, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W,Va. Jim was born December 30, 1933, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Amos and Effie Decker LeMasters.

He was retired from the former Mobay Corporation, New Martinsville, W.Va.; a member of St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire, Ohio; and was a Korean War Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Ann LeMasters; a brother, Ronald LeMasters; and a sister, Geraldine LeMasters.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy Greenwood LeMasters; a son, James A. LeMasters of Shadyside; a daughter, Tammy Gross and her husband, Steve, of Bridgeport, Ohio; a brother, Delbert (Jo Ann) LeMasters of Woodsfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Amber Schramm, Nathan Gross and Zachary Gross; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Joshua Kenny.

Family will receive friends at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th St., Bellaire, Saturday from 8:15 a.m. until time of

Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m., in St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire, with

Monsignor Gene W. Mullett as celebrant.

Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio. Belmont County Council of the American Legion will conduct Services at 9:05 a.m., in the funeral home.

Logston, Vera Viola nee Fankhauser

Harper Obituaries, Beallsville, Ohio, dated, January 19, 2008

Vera Viola Fankhauser Logston, 90, Clarington, Ohio died Friday, January 18, 2008 in Wheeling Medical Park Hospital.  She was born May 10, 1917 in Clarington, a daughter of the late Harry and Viola Berkey Fankhauser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Logston, three sisters, Olive Kalnai, Emma Fankhauser, and Lila Mercer.

Vera had retired from the Switzerland of Ohio School District where she worked as a cook at River High School.  She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Cain Ridge, Clarington, Ohio.

 Surviving are two sons, Richard Lee  Logston and his wife, Mary, of Jerusalem and Harry Keith Logston and his wife, Bonnie of Clarington; four grandchildren, Tom (Lori) Logston of Lewisville, Brian Logston of Columbus, Mike (Kim) Logston of St. Clairsville, and Amy Logston of Hershey, PA; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ada Fankhauser and Stella Forni. 

Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, near Clarington.  Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church and/or Zion Cemetery Association.

 

Meloy, Marjorie I Meloy nee Parrish

Marjorie I. Meloy, 92, of Cambridge, died early Monday morning (Jan. 14, 2008) at her home. She was born July 17, 1915, daughter of the late Pearly P. Parrish and Eva (Foster) Parrish.

Mrs. Meloy was a graduate of Brown High School. She retired in 1974 from the former State Hospital, where she served as secretary.

She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She worked for a short time at the Southeastern Med Gift Shop. She enjoyed traveling and crocheting.

She was a lifetime member of Unity Presbyterian Church and helped make the weekly bulletins for some time.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Gavin; brothers, Carol Parrish and Dale Parrish; sisters, Arlene Marzen and Bernita Roney; and nephews, Tom Parrish, Michael Roney and Rodney McDaniel.

She leaves her husband, William T. Meloy of Cambridge; sisters, Helen Stranges of St. Clairsville and Kathryn McDaniel of Cambridge; a

sister-in-law, Eva (Jones) Parrish of Lewisville; several nieces and

nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Scott-Specht Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Robert Millspaugh officiating.

Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.

McVey, Delores Jane McVey nee Tomlin

    GRAYSVILLE - Delores Jane McVey, 65, of Township 305, Graysville, passed away at 9 a.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2008) at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. She was born on July 20, 1942, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of Samuel Tomlin and Susie McGinnis Tomlin.

She was a member of the Creighton Ridge Church of Christ and a homemaker.

On April 27, 1961, Delores married William N. McVey, who survives with two sons and two daughters, William N. (Denise) McVey of Plymouth, Ohio, Tracey Dean (Toni) McVey of Plymouth, Ohio, Deborah S. Cellentani (Glenn Jackson) of Crestline, Ohio, and Sandra L. (David) Stinchcomb of Shelby, Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren, Shanon Cellentani, Cody Cellentani, Kristen McVey, Heather McVey, Samantha Hoak, Lindsay Hoak, Connor McVey, Bre Anna McVey, and Trace McVey; and her brothers, Roy Tomlin, and Henry Tomlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Tomlin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Ridge

Church of Christ with Ron Rossiter officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant

Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Friday. Family will be present from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.

PALMER, Mary L. "Tootie," 78, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Sunday, January 13, 2008, in Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va.

Mary was born November 27, 1929, in Powhatan Point, a daughter of the late Acil and Olive McBride Kenney.

She was a member of the Powhatan Lighthouse Church of God; the VFW Post No. 5565 Auxiliary; and American Legion Post No. 228 Auxiliary both of Powhatan Point.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. Palmer, on March 1, 2007; a son, Walter Lee Kenney; three brothers, Robert H. Kenney, James Kenney and Dale W. Kenney; a sister, Etta May Moore; and a great-grandson, Cody Allan Kenney.

Surviving are a son, Roger D. "Punkin" Kenney and his wife, Vera, of

Powhatan Point; six grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and many

nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the

Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, Ohio, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday with Pastor Bill Carter officiating.

    He was born near Sardis, Ohio on March 12, 1931 a son of the late

Lorenza and Pearl Winsola Hissom Piatt.

    He was a former employee of the Richard Haren Sawmill and the

Smithberger Sawmill. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers,

Richard Arthur Piatt and Paul Frederick Piatt; two step brothers, Johnny

Piatt and Charles Robert Piatt; one step-sister, Clara Briggs.

    Surviving are one son: Charles R. "Bob" Piatt and his fiancé Pat Heath

of Lewisville, Ohio; three daughters: Myrtle P. (Ronnie) Smith of Lower

Burrell, Pennsylvania, Shirley L. (John) Smith of Sardis, Ohio and Belva D.

(Kenneth) Blackstone of Lewisville, Ohio; two step-sisters: Mary Nalley of

Woodsfield, Ohio and Dorothy Crosley of New Concord, Ohio; ten

grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

BEALLSVILLE -- James Stanley Pyles, 84, Beallsville, passed away Saturday (Jan. 5, 2008) at Barnesville Hospital. He was born in Rayland, a son of the late J.L. and Bertha Pyles.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a retiree of Ormet Corporation and a member of Woodsfield Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Virgil; a brother, Samuel; and the mother of his children, Beulah Pyles.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Barr Pyles; nine children, three step

children, 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, several step

grandchildren and a sister.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Harper

Funeral Home in Beallsville where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial will follow in East Sunsbury Cemetery.

 

Pyles, James Stanley Pyles  2nd obit

He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII; a retiree of Ormet Steel Workers Local #5724, a member of the Woodsfield Christian Church and American Legion Post #768.  Stanley was a life-long musician. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Virgil; a brother, Samuel; and the mother of his children, Beulah Kinzy Pyles. Surviving are his wife, Donna Barr Pyles; his children, Bonnie (Lester) McGinnis, of Beallsville, Linda (Robert) Hutchison of Alledonia, James, Jr. (Marie) Pyles of Beallsville, David (Patti) Pyles of Israel, Mary (Tim) Sparkman of Summerfield, Carol (Mike) Kemnitzer of Michigan, Cindy (Don) Snyder of Bethesda, Sherman (Trudy) Pyles of Woodsfield, and Jamie (Greg) McLane of Florida; a sister, Dorothy Charbono of Woodsfield; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three step-children, and several step-grandchildren. 

Friends may call Monday, January 7th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8th at 11 AM with Herb Alexander officiating.  Burial will follow in East Sunsbury Cemetery, near Beallsville, with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #768.

 

Ramsay, E. Earl Ramsay

Ramsay, E. Earl, 96, formerly of Jacobsburg, Ohio died Monday, January 7, 2008 at Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in West Virginia on September 26, 1911 a son of the late E. Ellis Ramsay and Carrie Dunfee Ramsay.

Earl was a retired dairy farmer.  He was a member of the Jacobsburg United Methodist Church; a member of Weyer Lodge # 541 F. & A.M. at Centerville; a former supervisor for Belmont County Soil Conservation; a former member of Belmont County School Board serving 13 years; a former member of Belmont County Vocational School Board; member of the Farm Bureau; past president of Bellaire DCSA; Wheeling Sales Committee DCSA; past president of Belmont County Jersey Cattle Club; a former Belmont County Volunteer Firefighter.

Earl is survived by his wife, Olive H. Murphy Ramsay; his children, Fred Lawrence Ramsay and his wife Cathy of Jacobsburg; Eleanor Smith and her husband David of Glen Dale, West Virginia; Jean Fulton and her husband Tom of St. Clairsville; five grandchildren, Lisa Ann Phares, Anna Marie Smith, John Fulton, Tim Ramsay and Brenda Ogden and her husband Jared; and four great grandchildren.

Sommerville, Timothy A. Sommerville

Marietta Times, Marietta, Ohio, dated, January 5, 2008

    Timothy A. Somerville, 51, of Oakwood Avenue, Marietta, died at 4 a.m.

Wednesday (Jan. 2, 2008) at the Marietta Center for Nursing and

Rehabilitation.

    He was born Sept. 15, 1956, at Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Harlan C.

and Norma A. Starcher Somerville.

    He is survived by his son, Timothy H.C. Somerville of New Matamoras; one sister, Marlene B. Somerville; and one brother, Terry L. Somerville, both of Marietta. There are many cousins on both his maternal and paternal side.

    He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.

    Tim was a good friend to those who knew him and had a talent for fixing

just about anything.

    NEW MATAMORAS - Sue Ellen Stull, 57, of Archers Fork Road, New

Matamoras, died Thursday (Jan. 3, 2008) at her residence.

    She was born Feb. 17, 1950, in Marietta, to the late Ray and Nellie

McGee Boley.

    She was a nurses aide at Carehaven of Pleasants County, W.Va.

    She is survived by her husband, Gary Stull; sons, Tim Stull (Charolette)

of Marietta, and Gary Stull of Newport; daughter, Stacey     Stull and

fiancee, Tim Mounts, of Marietta; grandson, Austin Stull of Marietta; four

brothers; and eight sisters.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a half brother,

Morris McGee; and a grandson, Timothy Stull.

    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hadley Funeral

Home, 1021 Pike St., where the service will be held at 11 a.m.     Monday

with David Beaver officiating. Burial will follow at Matamoras Cemetery.

TUTTLE, Lowell F., 74, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2007. Lowell was born on July 9, 1933, to the late Jesse and Mary Tuttle in Bellaire, Ohio.

He enjoyed a long employment with the Ormet Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio, before moving to Boca Raton. He was currently employed with Fairman and Associates of Boca Raton.

Lowell proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion; the Boca Raton Road Runners; So. Florida Race Walkers; and the USA Track and Field; also did volunteer work for the Special Olympics and the Transplant Organization.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Juanita Goetze and Wanda Wise.

He is survived by Doris, his devoted wife of 27 years; their loving

children, Thomas Tuttle and Tamara Medovic, both of Wheeling, W.Va., David Scott of Mich., Timothy Scott, Linda Bagenstos and Charlene Morando, all of Fla.; 12 grand children; two great- grandsons; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Rosary prayer service will be said on Monday at 1 p.m., with visiting hours to follow from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Babione Funeral Home (west chapel, 561-483-9500,) Boca Raton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at St. John Catholic Church.

Lowell was a special man; he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

          Lori L. Garey, 40, Lancaster, died Dec. 23, 2007. She was born Sept. 21, 1967, a daughter of Barbara Garey.

          She was a member of the Woodsfield Christian Church and was a 1985 graduate of Woodsfield High School and Swiss Hills Vocational School.

          Surviving are a daughter, Breanna Yuill of the home; sister, Jami Jo Garey; a brother Troi (Ashley) Garey, all of Woodsfield; aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

          She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Barb and Kenneth Raver.

Funeral services were held at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and burial was at Floral Hills memory Gardens, both in Lancaster.

Monroe Co. Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, January 10, 2008

          Harley Alfred Tubaugh, 73, Ravenna, passed away from an extended illness on Jan. 3, 2008. He was born Dec. 17, 1934 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Carl and Lela (Jackson) Tubaugh.

          He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean War and a member of the Ravenna Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon.

          Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Dauline (Swallie) Tubaugh; three daughters, Patricia (Stephen) Rader of Ravenna, Penny Tubaugh of Ravenna, Kathleen (Warren) Lockhart of Rootstown; three grandchildren, Harley (Heather) Rader of Ravenna, Mandy (Daniel) Zickefoose of Cuyahoga Falls, Evan Lockhart of Rootstown; and a brother Carl Tubaugh, Jr., of Deerfield.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela E. Tubaugh, Richard G. Tubaugh; and five grandchildren.

          Josephine Elizabeth Sainato Altieri, 88, died Jan. 2, 2008 at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, Elkins, W.Va. She was a former resident of Coalton, W.Va., and more recently a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

          She was born Nov. 19, 1919, at Harding, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph Sainato and Mary Teresa Sainato.

          She attended the schools of Harding, W.Va., was a homemaker and retired as a cook at the Coalton 12 Year School. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

          Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. (Gerard) Everett of Beverly, Rose Marie (Mark) Miracle of Clarington; a sister, Pauline Sainato of Staunton, Va.; three grandchildren, Todd (Kati) Everett of Charlotte, N.C., Trevor Lupi and Ryan Lupi, both of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, Jake and Delaney Everett, both of Charlotte, Sofia Lupi of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julius  John Altieri, who died Oct. 18, 1977; three brothers, Nick, Frank and Rocco Sainato; and two sisters, Mary Concetta Sainato and Katherine Stark.

          Friends were received Jan. 4 at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, and in the evening a wake service was recited by Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF. On Jan. 5 she was moved to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton, where the liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated. Burial followed at Saint Brendan cemetery at Elkins.

          Eleanor “Midge” Long, 71, of Sardis, died Dec. 29, 2007, in Wetzel County Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1936 in New Martinsville, W.Va., the daughter of the late James P. and Myrtle E. Kimble Smith.

          She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 46 years. She was the lead singer of her country band and she sang on the WWVA Jamboree. She recorded a record which played on WSM Nashville and she turned down a recording contract because she didn’t want to leave her daughter, who was two years old at the time.

          Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Gary Long; three children; Steve (Teresa) Long of Sardis, Bob (Jennifer) Long of Clarington, and Sara (Tom) Postalwait of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Chantel, Amanda, Kayla, Heath and Paige; six great-grandchildren: Alysha, Bryanna, Desting, Faith, Christian and Braedon.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two aunts and five uncles.

          Friends were received at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New Martinsville, on Jan. 1, 2008, where funeral services were held Jan. 2, 2008 with Branch President Joe Ingold officiating. Burial in Mt. Union Cemetery, Hannibal.

Hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Mannington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Simon A. and Dora McDougal Keller. She was Protestant by faith.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Carolyn) Stottlemire of New Matamoras; daughter, Peggy (Bill) Deaton of Friendly, W.Va.; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Chester Keller of Sistersville, W.Va.; and sisters, Arlene Hackman of Deer Lodge, Mont., and Clara Thorn of Fairmont, W.Va.

          He was retired from Dayton Tire & Rubber Co. after 38 years.

          Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Stephen) Isham of Columbus, whom he lived with briefly, Peggy Sinclair of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Ryan Gudorf of Dayton, Heather (Anthony) Blakely of Dayton, Aaron and Dominic Lo Presti of Cincinnati; six great-grandchildren, Mason, Zachary and Kaitlyn Lo Presti of Cincinnati, Camryn, Kendall and Aidan Blakely of Dayton; a sister, Alberta Beacher of Dayton; three sisters-in-law, Lorene (Wysong) Good of Monterey, Tenn., Zola (Christman) Slawter of Akron, Doris (Christman) Smith of Woodsfield; two brothers-in-law, Samuel Christman of Woodsfield, Ray Christman of Illinois; many nieces and nephews, friends and dear caring neighbors, Dennis and Cheryl Piatt, Jeff Pickenpaugh and Shirley Phillips.

          He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lorna (Christman) Good, in 2006; parents, Earl and Hester Good: a brother, Richard Good; great-grandson, Jadon Blakley and grandson, Aaron Lo Presti’s wife, Jennifer Lo Presti.

          He was a wonderful caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

          Eileen Hartshorn Stevens 75, died Jan. 4, 2008, in Westminster, Md., with family members at her side. She was receiving hospice care for cancer.

She was born June 23, 1932, and daughter of the late Chauncey and Nellie Hines Hartshorn on the family farm near Lewisville.

          She was a graduate of Stafford High School and Washington Technical College, she worked as a nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital before retiring in 1995 and moving to Maryland.

          Surviving are two daughters, Linda (David Birdwell) Boles of Anchorage, Alaska, Angela (Vince) Maas of Westminster; a son, Michael (Christy) Stevens, of Eldersburg, Md.; granddaughter, Carrie Boles of Long Beach, Calif.; and two grandsons, Chris Maas of Westminster and Logan Stevens of Eldersburg; two brothers, Charles (Betty) Harshorn of Asheville, N.C., Donald (Emily Ann) Hartshorn of Woodsfield; sister, Carolyn Kindle of Graysville; sisters-in-law, Genevia Ullman of Westminster, Georgene Stevens of Marietta, Onita Nobbs of Myrtle Point, Ore.; brother-in-law, Frank (Bonnie) Stevens of Fly.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles “Lindy” Stevens, who died in 2001.

          Cremation was performed, per her wishes.

          A memorial service will be held Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, Marietta. A reception will follow at Austyn’s Resturant, 130 Front St., Marietta.

Monroe Co. Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, January 24, 2008

          Clyde Victor Merckle, 92, died Jan. 1, 2008, at his home in Surprise, Arizona. He was born April 25, 1915 at Fly, a son of Samuel J. and Blanche Hissom Merckle. He married Margaret Evelyn Lehman, Dec. 28, 1936. She died June 2, 1971.

          He was a retired drilling contractor for the D. R. Lauck Oil Company. He was a partner in 1956 of the Lauck Drilling Company. In 1978 he operated the Merckle Drilling Company, In 1987 Merckle built the wooden derrick for the Mid-American Oil and Gas Show at the Expo building.

          He moved to Arizona in 2002 coming from Great Bend, Kansas.

          Surviving are his daughter, Karen Clarke of Surprise, Arizona.

          He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Merckle.

          He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, BPOE, all Masonic bodies, ISIS Temple, Salina Consistory and Great Bend Petroleum Club.

          Funeral services were held Jan. 8. burial was in Great Bend Cemetery.

          Ruth B. Young, 81, Ravenna, died Jan. 21, 2008, at Bonnie McClusky’s Care Home in Rootstown. She was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Beallsville, a daughter of the late Arlie and Bertha Stoehr Hudson.

          She has lived in Ravenna the past 57 years and was a retired officer from Society Bank which is now Keybank in Ravenna.

          Surviving are two daughters, Christine “Young” Copeland, Deborah Young, both of Akron; grandson, Matthew Comernisky; and a sister, Carolyn Dryden of Ravenna.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. “Yockey” Young.

She was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church in Barnesville.

Preceded by her husband, Raymond S. Benson; daughter, Martha Hymes; and sister, Mary Anna Albaugh.

QUAKER CITY -- William C. "Buster" Carpenter, 84, of Quaker City, passed away Friday (Jan. 25, 2008) at Southeastern Med in Cambridge.

He was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Miltonsburg, the son of the late Carlton and

Cora (Johnson) Carpenter.

Mr. Carpenter retired as a bridge maintenance worker for the B&D Railroad. He was a U.S Navy veteran, who served during World War II.

He was Protestant by faith and was a member of the American Legion Post of Delaware. He also loved vegetable gardening.

On June 11, 1947, he married Kathryn Carpenter, who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Carla "Cookie" (Ron) Jackson of

Barnesville and Karen Elaine (Larry) Potter of Quaker City; one sister,

Patsy (D.K.) Carpenter of Summerfield; seven grandchildren and 20

great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles; and three sisters, Marie Carpenter, Jessie Johnson and Ruth

Winters.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Quaker City.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Wilbur Bragg will officiate the services with burial in the Friends Cemetery in Quaker City. Military rites will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

Melissa "Missy" Hays, 49, of Colegate Drive, Marietta, passed away at 1:26 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 26, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital from cancer. She was born Sept. 14, 1958, in Marietta, to the late Walter Lee and Betty Wheatley Riley.

Missy graduated from Marietta High School with the class of 1976, and was the church secretary at Norwood United Methodist Church where she was a member and involved with the United Methodist Women. She was active in following Marietta High School sports and especially the girls softball and boys wrestling programs.

She married Michael Hays on Jan. 27, 1990, in Marietta; he survives along with daughter, Olivia Hays, and son, Drew Hays, both of the home.

One sister, Lynn Augenstein (Chet) of Lebanon, Ohio; two brothers, Steve Riley (Lisa) of Marietta and W. Lee Riley (Jeannie) of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, E.J. Anderson of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews, along with her father-in-law, Clem Hays, and mother-in-law, Jan Hays, also survive.

Missy was preceded in death by her father, Walter Lee Riley, on May 8, 2004; mother, Betty Wheatley Riley on July 23, 2006; three sisters, Donna J. Amrine on March 17, 1984, Karen Anderson on May 5, 2005, and Sandra Mayer on May 23, 2007.

    John A. Kernan, age 75, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away January 28, 2008 in Wheeling Hospital Wheeling, WVa. He was born in Woodsfield on September 26, 1932 the son of the late Arthur J. Kernan and Emma Orr Kernan Burnett.

    John was a member of the Woodsfield Presbyterian Church, former employee of the Monroe County Beacon Newspaper and retired from the Village of Woodsfield where he served as Assistant Police Chief and Light Plant Security. He previously was Summit and Center Township Clerk. He was a true public servant holding various positions from 4-H advisor, 26 years as a Deputy Sheriff, Fair Board Member, and active in local politics.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: JoAnn

Bauer Kernan whom he married May 26, 1957, and an infant daughter Julie.

    He is survived by two daughters: Juanita Russell of Woodsfield, Ohio,

Jeannette (Ralph) Wilson of Woodsfield, Ohio, 1 grandson: Jacob A. Wilson, 4 granddaughters: Jennifer Russell (Cory) Johnson, Savannah, China and Cheyenne Wilson, 4 great granddaughters: Chloe, Mia and Ryleigh (Amber) Wilson, and Julie JoAnn Johnson. 1 brother: James W. Eleanor F. Largent age 82 of Akron Ohio formerly of Monroe County Ohio went home to be with the lord January 24, 2008.

Eleanor was a kind and generous woman who worked heard her whole life to provide for those she cared about.

She will be missed by her friends and family. A native of West Virginia, Eleanor retired from the Edwin Shaw Hospital Dietary Department after 15 years service and was an active member of the Church.

MILHOAN, Harold "Mutt," 92, of Beallsville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008, in the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield. He was born December 4, 1915, near Beallsville, a son of the late Samuel and Harriet Moore Milhoan.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Beallsville, where he served as an Elder for over 50 years. Mutt was a retired employee of Ormet

Corporation, Hannibal.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers,

Lester, Harry, Donald, and Glenn.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Secrest Milhoan, whom he married on June 24, 1939; a son, Eugene "Shiney" (Beth) Milhoan of Beallsville; a daughter, Judy (Eugene) Frank of Reno, Ohio; seven

grandchildren, Gena Milhoan of Powhatan Point, Ohio, Mike (Barb) Frank of Marietta, Ohio, Tony (Kim) Milhoan of Jerusalem, Ohio, John (Angela) Frank of Columbus, Ohio, Denise (Roger) Loy of New Matamoras, Ohio, Rob Randall of Powhatan Point, and Clarissa Milhoan of Beallsville; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

SCHUMACHER, Nellie, 88, formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away on January 22, 2008, in The Arlington Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Arlington, Ohio. She was born November 27, 1919 in Graysville, Ohio, daughter of the late Douglas and Addie Hodge Dillon.

She was a graduate of Mannington, W.Va. High School. After her marriage in 1938 to Alfred Schumacher, Sr., she lived in Woodsfield until May 2005 when after a stroke she was moved to Abbington of Arlington Assisted Living in Columbus, Ohio.

Her husband Alfred, Sr. in 1997; brothers, Romney, Ralph and Floyd Dillon; and sisters, Garnet Miller and Grace Fletcher, preceded her in death.

Nellie is survived by a sister, Jeanne (Mac) Spengler of Mannington, W.Va.; and sister- in-law, Grace Lynch Froelicher of Coraopolis, Pa. She is also survived by five sons, Richard (Carol) of Upper Arlington, Ohio,

Frank (Ann) of Lewis Center, Ohio, Alfred, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky,

George (Debbie) of Dover, Ohio, and John Schumacher of Ashley, Ohio;

daughter-in-law, Barbara Hood Andrick; 14 grandchildren, Rick (Lori)

Schumacher, Stephen (Erin) Schumacher, Sarah Kurz, Michael (Stacy)

Schumacher, Kristen (Paolo) Cusaro, Brent (Michelle) Schumacher, Doug

(Nicole) Schumacher, Patrick, Mark, Amanda, Rebecca, Dain, Cassy and Cole Schumacher. Nellie is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Nicole,

Jason, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Jordan, Anna, Ryan, Avrey and Evan Schumacher, Davis and Mary Grace Kurz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her love of family was always evident as she had a special relationship with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faithful caregiving for her husband Alfred during his Parkinson dehabilitation was for many years her vocation. Nellie loved to garden, and was a wonderful cook, and a caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of St. Sylvester's Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Club. Nellie was employed by The Modern Hardware for several years.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield on Sunday, January 27, 2008 with Vigil at 8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Sylvester's Catholic Church, 334 South Main Street, Woodsfield, with the Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik as celebrant. Interment immediately following in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.

TYLER, Mark Brent, 54, of Shadyside, Ohio, died suddenly Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire, Ohio. Mark was born February 24, 1953 in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Sherley E. and Elizabeth Audrey Longstaff Tyler.

He was retired from the State of Ohio, Division of Mines Industrial

Relations; a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shadyside; the Shadyside Boosters Club; and a 1972 graduate of River High School.

Surviving are his wife, Dianne Kernik Tyler; three sons, Mark (Karen) Tyler of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Christopher Tyler and Kevin Tyler, both of the home; a daughter, Tammy (Wallace) Keough of Bridge port, Ohio; two grandchildren, Marissa Kilgore and Nathan Tyler; two brothers, Keith (Andy) Tyler of South Lyons, Mich. and Thomas Tyler of Powhatan Point, Ohio; and a sister, Debra (Joseph) Fisher of Powhatan Point.

          Peter J. Balogh, 87, Lowellsville, died Jan. 22, 2008. He was born April 3, 1920 in Lowellsville, the son of the late Peter and Magdalena (Houser) Balogh.

          He was a boiler operator with the Sharon Steel Corp., retiring in 1982. He graduated from Lowellsville High School and was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, its men’s club, and the Youngstown Morra League, playing on the Mt. Carmel Society team. He was a former village councilman and former treasurer of the Lowellsville Boosters.

          Surviving are his loving wife, Angeline V. Valentino Balogh, whom he married Nov. 29, 1947; two daughters, Karen Balogh of Woodsfield, Suzanne Kelso of  Lowelsville; a son, John (Linda) Balogh of Struthers; four grandchildren, Kenneth (Nicole) Day, Luke Balogh, Jordan Balogh and Hannah Balogh.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Balogh; two sisters, Margaret Balogh, Magdalena Meelich; and a son-in-law, H. Jeffrey Kelso.

          Virginia Lucille McFadden, 86, New Matamoras, died Jan. 26, 2008 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1921 at Lebanon, Monroe County, a daughter of the late Everette William and Myrtle Amanda Griffin Smith.

          She was a member of the Matamoras Church of Christ and VFW ladies auxiliary in New Matamoras. She graduated from Bethel High School in 1939.

, Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
     She was born April 8, 1926, in Washington County to Guy Marshall and
Margaret Hendershot Mendenhall. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, and attended Marietta College and Holzer Hospital School of Nursing in Gallipolis. She was employed at the Marietta Osteopathic Hospital and then
worked for the Department of Census for about 10 years. She was a member of
Moss Run Congregational Church. Claire was an avid quilter.
     She is survived by a son, Terrence Morris (Melissa) of Marietta; four
grandchildren, Hannah, Terrence Jr., Matthew and Emma; and in-laws, Louise
Mendenhall of Marietta, Betty Morris of Belpre, and Larry and Wanda Morris
of Athens.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Leslie Morris, on Jan. 15,
1994
; they had been married on June 25, 1947. She was also preceded by two
brothers, Claude and Calvin Mendenhall; and a sister, June Biehl.
     Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 11, 2008) at East

She was a retired sales clerk for the Sears Company in Columbus, Ohio and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodsfield, Ohio. She enjoyed traveling and enjoyed being with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Nevil in May 1987 and one sister, Edna Rodgers.

     Ruby Thomas, 74, Rinard Mills, formerly a Hamler resident, died Jan. 25, 2008, at Shelby General Hospital, Marietta. She was born May 16, 1933, in Salyersville, Ky., the daughter of Jonah and Eva “Granny” (Lovely) Wireman.

     She had worked for Allied Egry of Leipsic, Campbell Soup of Napoleon, Buckeye Sugars of Ottawa and Viking Corner of Leipsic.

     Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Thomas, whom she married in 1952; two sons, Lloyd of Hamler, Rick ( Belinda) of Leipsic; two daughters, Polly Fackler of Hamler, Flossie Leu of Holgate; a brother, Basel Hale of Pierceton, Ind.; two sisters, Ruth Hale of Graysville, Syntha Salyers of Argos, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by two daughters, Vickie Just, Rita Fay Thomas; four brothers, Sam Wireman, Willard Miller, Clay Wireman, Junior Wireman; two grandchildren, Kenneth Fackler, Jr. and Angel Thomas.

     Elizabeth L. Ferguson, 79, died Jan. 30, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

     She was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

     Orlan Eugene Emery, 77, Overland Park, Kan., died Jan. 30, 2008, at Royal Terrace. He was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Woodsfield, a son of the late Thomas and Mildred Dressler Emery.

     He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor for 40 years at U-Brand. He also worked at BookMasters in Ashland, retiring in 1995. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ in 1958 and had been a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Ashland.

     Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Janis Emery; daughter, Dawn Light of Olathe; two grand-daughters, Nicole Light if Norman, Okla., Stacey Light of Olathe, Kan.; three sisters, Doris King of Woodsfield, Eldra (Chuck) Smiley of Ashland, Sue (Jim) Williams of Woodsfield; three brothers, Ray (Julie) Emery of Ashland, Jim (Jean) Emery of Batesville, Larry (Susie) Emery of Woodsfield; sister-in-law, Betty Emery of Ashland; and brothers-in-law, Larry (Linda) Lumbatis of Woodsfield and Dennis (Marlene) Lumbatis of Marietta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Von Zella Ellsworth.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Bertie Von Harding Ellsworth; three sons, William B. (Diana) Ellsworth of Bridge port, Robert B. (Diane) Ellsworth of Bellaire, and Robert Spencer of Virginia; three grandchildren, Renee L. Ellsworth, Cory F. Ellsworth and Daryl L. BEVERLY — Verna L. Foraker, 88, of Beverly died at 12:38 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 14, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 20, 1919, in Stafford, Monroe County, Ohio, a daughter of Raymond and Lina Johnston Miracle. She had worked at Clevite in McConnelsville, in the late ‘50s, and had been a lease agent for gas and oil companies for several years.

She was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Irvin, had enjoyed collecting antiques most of their lives. She enjoyed painting and enjoyed her children and many grandchildren.

On June 2, 1937, she married Irvin W. Foraker; he died Dec. 15, 2003.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda S. Nelson and husband, John, of Neelysville, and Linda K. Blaker of Beverly; seven grandchildren, Thomas Nelson, Jeff Nelson, Bill Nelson, Susie Arnold, Gregory Allen, Debora Simms, and Larry Blaker; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Virginia Crawford and husband, Charles, of Reynoldsburg, Mildred Cisler of Heath, and Luella Morris of Hobe Sound, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Donna Allen; sons-in-law, David Allen and Larry Blaker; granddaughter, Kathy Blaker; three brothers, Harold, Virgil, and Roy Miracle; and one sister, Luetta Hughes.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Beverly United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Corbett officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly and for one hour before the service at the church.

He was a retired millwright of Ormet Corporation; a member of the First Church of God and the VFW Post 9930, both in Duffy; a 62 year member of the American Legion Post 28 of New Martinsville; a member of the 87th infantry Golden Acorn Association; and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Louise Johnson Hoskins; two brothers, Floyd Hoskins and Raymond Hoskins, Jr.; and two sisters, Elsie Mahurin and Irene Hoskins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril E. Pennell; one brother, Robert F. Weber; a brother-in-law, Harold Spence.

Don was also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Myrtle Jobb Isaly; and a sister, Beverly Isaly.

FLEMING — Elmer Ellsworth Templeton III, 73, of Warren Chapel Road, Fleming, died peacefully Saturday (Feb. 23, 2008) at his home.
He was born Oct. 18, 1934 in Woodsfield, to Elmer Ellsworth II and Lorna Strickling Templeton.

He was a graduate of Woodsfield High School, a 1959 graduate of Marietta College, and received his master’s degree from Penn State University in 1961. His bachelor’s and master degrees are both in petroleum engineering. His early career was with Continental Oil Company and Phillips Petroleum. He was on the faculty of Marietta College from 1967 to 1978 and ran his own consulting firm from 1978 to the mid 1990s. Despite his outward demeanor and size, Elmer had a heart of gold on giving kids from the Ohio and West Virginia areas a chance to change their destinies through the oil and gas industry.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Leach Templeton, whom he married on March 22, 1985; a daughter, Stephanie Ann Becker (Calvin) of Whipple; a son, Phillip Alexander Templeton of Granville; a grandson, Alexander Philip Templeton; four stepchildren, Dawne Dougherty (Tom) of Eding, Minn., Alan Schultheiss of Allentown, Pa., Terri Sweeney of Wexford, Pa., and Lori Parker (Jim) of Williamstown, W.Va.; 14 step-grand-children, Alicia Ann and Christopher Dean Becker, Brian and Colin Dougherty, Ashley Peyton, Shawn, Autumn, and Amber Schultheiss, Jaymee Ludwig, Samantha and Daniel Sweeney, Jessica, Kylie and Emily Pickens; and a brother, Samuel Templeton (Dorothy) of Woodsfield.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ann Oden Templeton, in 1983; and a brother, Stephen Templeton.

A memorial service, under the direction of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Williamstown First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Gedon and the Rev. Leo Farley officiating. Burial of his ashes will be in Warren Chapel Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service, at a reception, in the church social hall.

Donations may be made to the Elmer Templeton Scholarship Fund at Marietta College. Mr. Templeton was dedicated to Marietta College and the petroleum engineering department as it shaped his entire life and he gave back not only to the college, but to the city as well.           She was born at Sargent, Nebraska on August 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Lafeyette and Keo D. Moore Shively.

          She was a homemaker who loved her family, her home and her church. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, gardening and needlework.

          Wilma was a member of the Lewisville United Methodist Church, Lewisville, Ohio where she was a member of the Women’s Circle. She was also a member of the Friendship Club of Caldwell, Ohio.

          On July 19, 1940 she married Robert (Bob) Johnson in Broken Bow, Nebraska, who preceded her in death on January 16, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nona Gibson and Irene Young; one brother, Leonard Shively.

HICKENBOTTOM, Harley R., 77, of Somerton Highway, Barnesville, Ohio, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at his home. He was born December 6, 1930 in Somerton, Ohio, a son of the late Otis and Pearl Brown Hickenbottom.

Harley was a former school bus driver in the Somerton area; a farmer; was retired from the Ormet Reduction Plant; served in the US Navy; was a

Christian by faith; a member of the Beallsville American Legion; and the

National Pike Knife Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Mary Jane Hatcher; a brother, David Hickenbottom; sister-in-law, Jean Hickenbottom; and son-in-law, Joseph Corbett.

Herman was a retired employee of Quinn Development Company in East Richland

RINARD MILLS - Victor "Vic" Dean Dye Sr., 74, of Rinard Mills, passed away Thursday (Feb. 28, 2008) at his home. He was born July 18, 1933, in Rinard Mills, Ohio, to the late John W. and Frieda Rinard Dye.

He was a retired welder for Pattins Manufacturing and Birmingham Bolt of Marietta, Ohio. Vic was a member of Merrill Ridge Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Georgia Reynolds Dye; son, Victor "V.J." Dye Jr. (Amy) of Woodsfield, Ohio; daughter, Lori Dye Sloter (Eddie) of Ashland, Ohio; two grandsons, Cameron and Kyle Sloter, and one

granddaughter, Kasidi Dye; four brothers, Walter (Janet), Robert, Lester

(Delores) and Gary (Garnet) Dye; and two sisters, Ruth Craig and Doris Ann

Dougherty.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Wilbur, Wayne, Harold Lee, William, John, and Jimmy Dye; and one sister, Maxine Martin.

NEW MATAMORAS — Cora Mae Vanwey, 91, of Archer’s Fork Road, New Matamoras, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday (Feb. 29, 2008) at Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on July 28, 1916, in Schley, Washington County, Ohio, a daughter of Emmett Binegar and Eliza Matheny Binegar. Cora was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to Kenneth Vanwey who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1986.

Surviving are her daughter Shirley Eddy of New Matamoras; three grandchildren, Ronald Allen (Charlotte) Eddy of New Matamoras, Sharon (Greg) Taylor of St. Marys, and Karen (Donnie) Booth of New Matamoras; seven great-grandchildren, “Barney” Nathan and Donnie Booth, Brian, Kyle and Scott Taylor, Bryan and Brandon Eddy. Also surviving are her brother, Raymond (Mary) Binegar of Sycamore Valley; brother-in-law ,Gerald Vanwey of Marietta; sisters-in-law, Edrie Binegar of New Matamoras and Kathleen Binegar of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gale Vanwey; and four brothers, Homer, Carl, Clark and Melvin Binegar.

He was born March 12, 1946, in Woodsfield, son of the late Allen "Cap" and Amelia (Stephen) Hayes.

Mr. Hays was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Living Water Fellowship Church and was a former employee of Y&O Coal Co.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Leasure.

He leaves his wife, Judy (Campbell) Hayes; two sons, Scott (Christina) Hayes of Woodsfield and Shannon (Andrea) Hayes of Barnesville; daughter, Tina (Todd) Tucker of Barnesville; brother, Gervis (Genevra) Hayes of Quaker City; two sisters, Gertrude Brown of New Concord and Almeta Morris of Woodsfield; eight grandchildren, Lacy (Chas) Starr, T.J.           Leonard O. Hunt, Jr., 78, Caldwell, died Feb. 9, 2008, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born Jan 17, 1930 in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Leonard O. and June Riley Hunt, Sr.

          He graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., with a degree in accounting and economics. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, attaining the rank of staff sergeant, serving in Guam for two years. He owned and operated the former K-V Stores in Cladwell, Woodsfield, and Barnesville for 20 years. He was a member of the Senacaville Presbyterian Church.

          Surviving are his wife, Shirley Colleen Smith Hunt, whom he married June 1, 1952; a daughter, Kimber Lea Byrd of Greeley, Colorado; a son, Kevin Leonard (Natalie) Hunt of Parma; three grandchildren, Wesley, Thomas Byrd and Anastasia K. Hunt.

          Gary Denver Rinard, 65, of 716 Arlington Rd., Newton Falls, Ohio passed into eternal life at Feb. 20, 2008 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

          He was born on May 12, 1942 in Woodsfield, the son of William Denver and Ruby Maxine (Crawford) Rinard. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Thompson on Sept. 15, 1962 and she survives.

          Formerly of Canton, Mr. Rinard had lived in Newton Falls for the passed 43 years. He worked as a tow motor operator at General Mills for 30 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking care of his dogs, Angel, Oreo and Hershey.

          He is survived by his loving family, wife Carolyn, two daughters and sons-in-law, Quintina and Douglas Withrow of Leavittsburg, Dena and Anthony Marafiote of Newton Falls; and four granddaughters, Alysia and Alexis Witherow of Leavittsburg; Elizabeth Woofter of Cortland, Alaina Woofter of Newton Falls.

          He was preceded in death by his father.

          The family received friends at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls where services were held Feb. 23. Interment was at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.

          Ernest C. “Ernie” Hamilton, 84, Carrollton, died Feb. 14, 2008, in his home. He was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Woodsfield, a son of the late Frank and Audrey Steele Hamilton.

          He was a Navy veteran of WWII and retired from Republic Steel/LTV. He was an avid hunter, long time area farmer, Hereford breeder, and member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.

          Surviving are three sons, Dale (Suzanne) Hamilton of Carrollton, Bryan (Kathy Hamilton of Carrollton, Roger (Mary) Hamilton of Canton; three sisters, Doris Fenton of Carrollton, Mildred Hall of Barnesville, Ethel Woody of Mansfield; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; brother, Gene; daughter, Ellen Sue; and a grandson, Ty Allen.

          Friends were received Feb. 17 at Sweeny-Dodds Funeral Home, Carrollton. Funeral services were Feb. 18 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Orphanides officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery.

          Rachel Charlene Teafatiller, 88, graduated to Heaven on Feb. 15, 2008, at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, OK. She was born July 6, 1919 in Connersville, OK, a daughter of Henry and Ethel Bond.

          She spent most of her life in prayer, praying for other people. She was a real prayer warrior. She was a member of the Glorious Church Fellowship in Collinsville, OK. Surviving are one son, Wayne Teafatiller of Nowata, OK; two grandchildren, Crystal Marcum of Collinsville, OK, Calvin Teafatiller of Nowata; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Mack of Coweta, OK, Candance Mack Bracket of Owasso, OK, Tyler Wayne Marcum of Collinsville, a great-great-grandson, Landyn Brackett of Owasso; and a sister, Helen Blevins of Ada, OK.

     She was a member of the Jerusalem Church of Christ and had been a 4-H advisor for many years.
    In addition to her parents, Erma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, two grandchildren, Natashia and Michael Wallace; two brothers, Emmet and Wayne Truax; five sisters, Edna Kirkbride, Mildred Gates, Fern Morris, Wilma Kindelberger, and Betty Phillips.

    Mary Frances (Smith) Dillon, age 92 of New Philadelphia, Ohio passed
away Saturday March 8, 2008 in the Hennis Care Center Dover, Ohio. She was born in Attica, Licking County, Ohio January 11, 1916 a daughter of the late James and Mary Edith Smith.
    At the age of thirteen after her mother's death she took over the care of her seven siblings. Mary liked living in the country, she never had much in life, but shared what she had and never complained. She did the milking-gardening-canning and always made home baked bread on the weekends. Mary never turned anyone away who was hungry or needed a place to stay.
    Mary and her husband Melvin lived in Lewisville, Ohio. She took care of her husbands father Thomas Dillon and her uncle John Smith until their deaths. She liked puzzle books, playing solitaire, getting cards and letters and sharing her past with her grandchildren. Mary was a member of the Church of Christ at Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
    Preceded in death by her husband Melvin Dillon in 1981, Mary then made her home with her daughter Hazel & Thomas Polka of New Philadelphia, Ohio for 26 years. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Bessie Tennant of Mason City, West Virginia, 3 brothers: David R., Raymond, and Le Roy all of Mansfield, Ohio.
    Mary is survived by her children: Mary LeMasters - Ravenswood, West Virginia, Trudy (Larry) McMillen - Mansfield, Ohio, Hazel (Thomas) Polka  New Philadelphia, Ohio, Arthur Junior (Marilyn) Daugherty - Mansfield, Ohio, and raised as a son: Alfred (Judy) Brown - Navarre, Ohio., Sisters: Helen Patton, Margaret (Carlos) MeLaughlin, 2 half sisters: Jane and Dortha Smith, 1 brother: Lloyd (Doris) Smith all of Mansfield, Ohio. 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

    NEW MATAMORAS - Elmer Walter Hensel Jr., 80, of 33169 Bethel Ridge Road, New Matamoras, Ohio, died at 7:25 a.m. Friday (March 14, 2008) at his home.
    He was born April 27, 1927, in Monroe County, New Matamoras, the son of the late Elmer Walter Hensel Sr. and Pearl Langsdorf Hensel.

    He had been employed at Ormet Corp and operated his own refrigeration business after retiring from Ormet. He was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from Antioch High School in 1948 and was a member of the Steel Workers Union at Ormet. He was also a former trustee of Benton Township.
    On Jan. 1, 2000, he married Ellen Louise Janeda who survives. He is also survived by one son, Edward Hensel of New Matamoras; and three stepchildren, Janeda Kretzinger (Ken) of Gainsville, Texas, Dwayne Johnson (Marilyn) and James Johnson (Heather) both of New Matamoras. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren; and one brother, James Hensel of New Matamoras.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ruby Hensel and Doris M. Lucas.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras Chapel, with the Rev Frank Conley officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery in Marietta.

     Howard L. Hood, age 83, of Woodsfield, Ohio died Sunday March 9, 2008 at Barnesville Hospital. He was born February 6, 1925 in Weirton, West Virginia a son of the late Fred and Nina Hood.
    Howard attended Mount Union College for 1 year before joining the Army Air Corps to serve his country in World War II. He returned to Mount Union after the war, was a 4 year letterman in football, and graduated in 1949. He then moved to Huntington, West Virginia where he coached football at Marshall University and later worked at DuPont. In 1958 he was hired by the Ormet Corp. as safety supervisor. He worked there until 1985 when he retired as Labor Relations Supervisor.
    Howard was past president of the Woodsfield Elementary PTA, Switzerland of Ohio Country Club, Woodsfield Kiwanis, and the Ormet Management Club. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodsfield. Howard was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and golfer, and he enjoyed organizing golf outings and playing gin rummy with his buddies.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters.
    Howard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Silver Hood of
Woodsfield, three daughters: Barbara Andrick of Worthington, Ohio, Beckie (Jim) Jack of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Beverly (Jeff) Friend of Grove City, Ohio, He is also survived by his four beloved grandsons: Brent (Michele) Schumacher, Mark Schumacher, Joey and Matt St. John, all of Columbus, and 2 great-grandchildren, Avrey and Evan Schumacher. Howard is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Don (Wanda) Hood of Chester, West Virginia, Fred Hood of Leesburg, Florida, and Nina Ludington of Lafayette, Louisiana and several nieces and nephews.

    He was an employee of Fishel Company and a Navy veteran.

    He was a diary farmer, a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Powhatan Point and the Serbian Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville, Ohio. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 768 in Beallsville.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Dusanka Joksimovic, his second wife Hilda Milosavljevic, and two sisters Rakina and Bozinka.
    Survivors include five sons Radisa (Linda) Joksimovic of Powhatan Point, Pete (Tina) Milosavljevic of Mooresville, NC, Mark (Terri) Milosavljevic, Mirko (Shirley) Milosavljevic, and Ronnie (Randa) Milosavljevic all of Clarington, three daughters Ilona (Frank) Crabtree of Somerset, KY, Lila Goddard of Woodsfield, and Marian Yanen of Clarington, three sisters Lubina, Ruza, and Rada all of Serbia, ten grandchildren in the United States, two grandchildren in Serbia, six great-grandchildren in the United States, five great-grandchildren in Serbia, several nieces and nephews.

    He was born Feb. 21, 1911, at Freed, W.Va., to the late William and Lena Shimer Snider. He was a welder and boiler maker and was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
    He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Louie Dawson Snider; they were married April 11, 1936.
    Also survived by three daughters, Nancy Weber (Elliott) of Brownsville, Ohio, and Mary Ann Kimmel (James) and Ruth Aju, both of Barberton, Ohio. There is one son, Joseph Snider (Sally) of Fort Wayne, Ind. There are also five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Colvin Snider of Lake Osweco, Ore.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.

    Winkler, Harry R., 98, of Sardis, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio, where he had resided for the last two years. He was born August 14, 1909, the son of the late Harry J. and Jettie (Michel) Winkler.
    In September of 1953 he married Mabel Leudy.

    He was employed at Firestone in Akron, Ohio for 47 years. After retirement, he, along with Mabel, returned to Sardis. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
    Harry served for three years in France and in England during WWII in the U.S. Army Medical Corp.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Luedy Winkler; three brothers, Arthur, Raymond and Roy Winkler; and two sisters, Helen McKelvey and Olga Landis.
    Survivors include a brother, Herman Winkler of Sterling, Ohio; three sisters, Bertha (Harold) Zigler of Wadsworth, Ohio, Ruth Moss of Seville, Ohio, and Margaret (Max) Clegg of Clarington, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, the Homer Smith family.

Paul J. Biedenbach, age 80, of Sarahsville, Ohio, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio. He was born July 20, 1927, in Lewisville, Ohio,son of the late Ambrose and Gertrude Wahl Biedenbach.    

He attended elementary school at St. Joseph School at Burkhart, and he was a graduate of Lewisville High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Alaska for two years, and he owned and operated a family farm near East Union for many years. He was the founder of Biedenbach Logging Service in Sarahsville, and he was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caldwell. Mr. Biedenbach was also a member of the National Farm Organization, and he was recognized as the Noble County Soil and Water Conservation Farmer of the Year. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, fishing, listening to his radio, gardening, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Margaret Maxwell, Lucille Huffman, and Phyllis Schehl.
          He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Sorg Biedenbach, whom he married May 13, 1948; his children, Barbara (Robert ) Huffman of Lowell, Beverly (Ron) Harmon of Caldwell, Stephen (Sue) Biedenbach of Caldwell, David (Veronica) Biedenbach of Sarahsville, Mary (Jay) Hendershot of Sarahsville, Linda (Scott) Radcliff of Bridgeport, West Virginia, John (Donna) Biedenbach of Sarahsville, Marcia (Robert) Thompson of Sherrodsville, Elizabeth (Greg) Steed of Sarahsville, and Rita (Dave) McKee of Caldwell; one sister, Stella (Blair) Brown of Springfield, Ohio; 33 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

brothers, Lewis "Lew" Lively of New Martinsville, WV and Jim Lively of Buchannon, WV; a sister, Anna Ice of Friendly, WV; two sons, William Lively and Lenny Dean Lively, both of Louisville, KY; two daughters, Mary Louise Richards of Bethesda, Ohio and Linda Marie Chumley of Carlsbad, New Mexico; 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

          Edward E. McCune, 60, of County House Lane, Marietta, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday (March 19, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
          He was born on Aug. 30, 1947, in Washington County, a son of John McCune and Armelia Jarrett McCune.

He was a graduate of Skyvue High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a manager for Pastime Lanes for 20 years and Fenton Art Glass for 15 years. Ed was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed bowling and watching westerns on television.
          On Nov. 21, 1970, Ed married Brenda Stoehr, who survives with one daughter, Melissa (Mike) Flesher of Williamstown. He is also survived by four sisters, Pauline Harmon, Elaine (Carroll) Coy, Alice (Jim) Schafer and Dora (Dave) Revels; and his brother-in-law, Robert Shankland.
          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald McCune; and three sisters, Betty Shankland, Beulah Needs and Grace Revels.
          Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (March 22) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will be in Dalzell Cemetery with full military services. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. today until the hour of the service.

          Edra Ring, 99, Louisville, formerly of Monroe County and Marietta, died March 12, 2008, in Oak Hill Manor Care Center. She was born Aug. 1, 1908 in Jericho, a daughter of the late August and Della Cline.

          She was a member of the Louisville Church of Christ.

          Surviving are a daughter, Lucille (Glenn) Mann of Tennessee; two sons, Virgle (Jean) Ring, Don (Margaret) Ring, all of Louisville; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ring in 1996; a son, Gerald Ring; two grandchildren; three sisters and five brothers.

          Friends were received March 16 at Stier-Israel Funeral Home, Louisville, where services were held March 17 with Minister Ronald Laughery officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery, Louisville, OH 44641.

 

Thompson, William A. Thompson

          William A. “Andy” Thompson, 63, of Zanesville, died March 8, 2008 at Genesis Good Samaritan ER following a sudden illness. He was born Aug. 11, 1944, in Woodsfield, a son of the late Joseph and Nellie Leasure Thompson.

          He retired from the union following 44 years of service. He was an avid fan and greatly enjoyed bingo.

          Surviving are a daughter, Misty Thompson, Jacksonville, Fla.; four sons, Kim Thompson of Mississippi, William Bradley Thompson, Jacksonville, Deno McCort and Reuben McCort both of Zanesville; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister Virginia Barrett of Zanesville.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilkie Thompson and a special pet and companion Bowzer.

          Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, Zanesville, was in charge of arrangements.

          According to Andy’s wishes a cremation will take place and no calling hours or services will be observed.

          Roletta May Ketzel, 87, Ravenna, died March 2, 2008 at Woodlands at Robinson in Ravenna. She was born May 30, 1920 in Sardis, a daughter of the late William and Ethel Stewart Ketzel.

          She has lived in Ravenna since 1942 and had worked for the Cleveland Woosted Mills in Ravenna.

          Surviving are her brother, Harry Ketzel of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Grace Ketzel of Ravenna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth, Alice, Mary, Madeline; and two brothers, Lawrence and Earl.

          Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of services on March 5 at Shorts Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.

          Dorothy Ann Frieda Biedenbach, age 79, of Caldwell, Ohio, died

Friday, March 28, 2008, at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center,

Zanesville, Ohio. She was born February 2, 1929, near Summerfield, Ohio,

daughter of the late Harry and Clara Ritterbeck Sorg.

She was a graduate of Summerfield High School. She was formerly employed as a secretary at Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska, and she was also a secretary for Biedenbach Logging Service, Sarahsville. Along with her husband, she operated a dairy farm for many years, and she was a beloved homemaker and mother.

She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caldwell, and its Catholic Women's Club. She enjoyed making rugs on her loom, gardening, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and watching and feeding birds. She loved her family.

           She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Biedenbach, whom

she married May 13, 1948, and who died March 20, 2008; one sister, Ruth Sorg Crock; and three brothers, Earl, Virgil, and Clyde Sorg.

           Surviving are her children, Barbara (Robert) Huffman of Lowell,

Beverly (Ron) Harmon of Caldwell, Stephen (Sue) Biedenbach of Caldwell,

David (Veronica) Biedenbach of Sarahsville, Mary (Jay) Hendershot of

Sarahsville, Linda (Scott) Radcliff of Bridgeport, West Virginia, John

(Donna) Biedenbach of Sarahsville, Marcia (Robert) Thompson of

Sherrodsville, Elizabeth (Greg) Steed of Sarahsville, and Rita (Dave) McKee

of Caldwell; 33 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces,

nephews, and cousins.

McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a Christian

Scripture Service and Rosary will follow visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy

   She was born August 4, 1924 in New Matamoras the daughter of Samuel and Lydia Jane Parr Bradfield.

   She was a member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church, The Matamoras Area Historical Society, Esther Circle of the church, and the Archeology Society of Ohio.

   She married Eugene Corbin Cline on March 15, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six

sisters; Dolly Meeks, Ruby Boston, Katherine Graves, Frances Whitten, Bell

Light and Cleo Trautman. One brother Jake Bradfield.

   She is survived by one son; Warren Cline of New Matamoras; three

daughters, Cassandra Strecker (Charles) of New Carlisle, Ohio; Marie Armann (George) of Powhatten Point, Ohio; and Myra Holpp (Tim) of Florence, Kentucky. Six Grandchildren ; five Great grandchildren and one brother William Bradfield.

   Services will be held on Wednesday April 2 at 11:00 A.M. at Hadley

Funeral Home New Matamoras, Ohio with Rev, Michael Webber officiating. Burial will be in Matamoras Cemetery.

    Mildred L. Dunn, 99, formerly of New Matamoras went to be with her Lord on Thursday February 7, 2008 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

   She was born near Fly, Ohio on September 28, 1908, to Harvey G. and Anna R. Haught Bradfield.

   Mildred attended school in a one room school house on Jim Run, near Fly,

Ohio and graduated from Stover High School in New Matamoras, Ohio in 1926.

   She was married to Harvey R. Dunn on August 1, 1928 at Middlebourne, W. Va. Harvey died on August 5, 1980.

   Mildred was a homemaker and a member and Past Worthy Matron of Matamoras Chapter No. 261 Order of Eastern Star since 1933 and she was also a member of Matamoras United Methodist Church.

   She loved to travel and visit with her family and friends.

   She is survived by two sons, William G. Dunn (Donaldeen) of Reno, Ohio

and Joseph R. Dunn (Nancy) of Delaware, Ohio. Seven Grandchildren , William G. Dunn Jr. (Rosie) of Phoenix, Arizona, Steven R. Dunn (Maria) of Reno, Ohio, Donald H. Dunn (Renae) of Winchester, Virginia,  Tami S Kluckman (James) of Leesburg, Virginia, Kimberly A. Dunn of Lancaster, Ohio, Joseph R. Dunn II (Peggy) of Oviedo, Florida, and Christopher E. Dunn (Sherry) of Oviedo, Florida. 24 great grandchildren and 10 Great Great Grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Dunn, two brothers Earl and Merle Bradfield and a Great Grandson Jason Dunn.

   Services will held at Hadley Funeral Home New Matamoras Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Monday with Pastor Joseph R. Dunn II officiating. The family will receive friends at Hadley Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday February 10, 2008. There will be Eastern Star services Sunday evening at 8:00 P.M.     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother,

William Cooper and a brother-in-law, Daniel Zwick.

    Surviving are his wife, Wanda Zwick Gallatin whom he married on May 17, 1969; one son: William Gallatin and his fiancé Linda of Florida; one

daughter and caregiver: Mary Beth Gallatin of the home; one granddaughter:

Amy of Florida; one brother-in-law: George (Barbara) Zwick of Kinsington,
