Terry Allen Yost, 29, Miller, died Saturday, July 6, 1985 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux
Falls, due to burns he sustained in a May 25 car racing accident at Central Speedway in
Terry was born September 3, 1955 in Miller to Edwin and Norma (Thompson) Yost. He
was raised in South Hand County and graduated from Miller High School in 1973.
He worked for Miller Fencing and Hines Construction before marrying Cindy Hines
December 18, 1976 in Miller. They moved to Como Township where they ranched.
Terry held an early interest in auto racing which developed into a true love and devotion to the sport. He was the reigning modified track champion at Miller Central Speedway.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, two children, Nichole 8 and Ryan 5; his parents, Edwin
and Norma Yost; one brother, Dennis, five nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist
Church with Rev. James Smucker and Rev. Richard Lounsbery officiating. Burial was in
the GAR Cemetery, Miller.
Active pallbearers were Delbert Jury, Tony Welch, Ronnie Welch, Marlen Winter, Lonny
Parmely, Glenn Goodall, Roger Kenaston and Kenny Selting.
Honorary pallbearers are all members of Central Speedway Racing Association, and his many friends.
