Louise Harris Staley, 71, died Saturday, April 22, 1995 at Hand County Memorial Hospital from cancer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 25 at the First United Methodist Church in Miller with the Reverend Ann Louise Weisenfluh officiating. Burial was in GAR Cemetery, Miller.
Louise Harris, youngest child of Maud (Capehart) and Joel Harris, was born on the Harris Ranch north of Miller, April 23, 1923, joining brothers, Bob and Joel and sisters, Inez, Lottie and Dorothy.
As a child she roamed the prairie on her pony, Dixie, identifying grasses, rocks, wildflowers and birds. She especially loved all small animals.
Louise graduated from Miller High School in and 1941 and the Bartron School of Nursing in Watertown. She practiced her profession in South Dakota, Oregon and Montana where she met and married her husband, Bob Staley, in 1953. They were parents to stillborn baby Marcus. Bob and Louise were later divorced with Louise returning to the ranch to care for her ailing mother.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy and brothers-in-law, Estol Williams of Mesa, Arizona, and Ernie Petersen of Junction City, Oregon; 14 nieces and nephews, a host of friends and beloved pets, Midgie and Heidi.
She was preceded in death by her son, parents, sisters Inez Cotton and Lottie Petersen,
brothers Bob and Joel Harris, and niece JoAnn Cotton.
Pallbearers were Bob Williams, Richard Cotton, Ted Lamm, Donald Cotton, Tom Cotton
and David Harris.
