Virgil Oree Sisson, 87, Redfield died Sunday, June 30, 1985, at Community Memorial
Virgil Oree Sisson was born January 18, 1898, in Hand County to Lewis L. and Anna D.
(Kenny) Sisson. He attended schpool in Wheaton Township and also Aberdeen Business College.
He married Gladys Watkins in Elkhart, Iowa, November 24, 1920. They farmed in the
He was life-long member of the Wheaton United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge No. 34 AF&AM, Gand Commandry of Knights Templar, Royal Arch Masons of Redfield.
He served on the Wheaton Church Board, the township and school boards, was a Hand
County commissioner and was a pioneer of Ree Electric REA board of directors until 1972.
In May of 1885 he received a Rural Electric Pioneer Award as a special presentation from Ree Electric.
He is survived by his wife of Redfield, nine daughters, Mrs. Carroll (Floreine) Anderson of Spearfish, Mrs. Marilyn Schmidt of Redfield, Mrs. O.C. (Cloris) Wright of Lincoln,
Nebraska, Mrs. Howard (Arland) Galliger of Casper, Wyoming, Mrs. James (Marlyce)
Charron of Littleton, Colorado, Mrs. Delbert (Donna) Bushong of Tulare, Mrs. Virgie Hanson of Littleton, Colorado, Mrs. Don (Sharyl) Prince of Antigo, Wisconsin, Mrs. Jerrilyn Hanson of Casper, Wyoming; 37 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Staehnke of San Diego, Californa and Mrs. Rena Benning of Redfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was Wednesday in the First Congregational Church, Redfield, with the Rev.
Paul Opsahl officiating. Burial was in the Burdette Cemetery, Tulare.
A Masonic service was held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Coleman-Thelen Funeral Home,
