Ernest Schweigerdt, 84, Rapid City, died of cancer on Saturday, April 22, 1995 at the
Clarkson-Mt. View Guest Home.

Services were held Thursday, April 27 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rapid City,
with the Rev. Kenn Cragg officiating.  Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid
City.

Active pallbearers were his grandson, Chuck Oligmueller, Randy Oligmueller, John
Bertsch, Michael Moore, Brett Stevens and Jarrod Fullmer.  Honorary pallbearers were
Danny Gortmaker and James Schweigerdt.

Ernest Schweigerdt was born July 19, 1910 at Artas, South Dakota, the son of Andrew and Johanna (Knoepfle) Schweigerdt.

He married Bertha Beck November 14, 1929 at Artas and they recently celebrated their
65th wedding anniversary.

They farmed near Artas until 1946, then moved to Artas where he owned a grocery store
and later managed the grain elevator.

In 1948, he moved his family to Miller where and his brother, John Kirschenmann bought
and managed the Princess Theatre.  In 1953 they built and managed the Midway Drive-In Theatre.

He and his wife wintered in Mesa, Arizona from 1958 until 1990.  They moved to Rapid City in 1963 and he managed an indoor theater in Sturgis for a short time.  He bought the outdoor drive-in in Alliance, Nebraska, then bought and managed Ernie's Mobile Home
Park in Box Elder until 1974 when he retired.  He was a member of Westminster
Presbyterian Church, Rapid City.

He is survived by four daughters, Alice and her husband, Marvin Oligmueller, Joan Bertsch, both of Miller, Shirley Moore and Beverly and her husband, Marv Kisser, both of Rapid City, two sisters, Christina Kautz, Artas and Bertha Hoff, Eureka, two brothers, Oscar Kirschenmann, Eureka and John Kirschenmann, Artas, 11 grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Art Schweigerdt, Jake
Kirschenmann and Edwin Kirschenmann and a son-in-law, Gerald Bertsch.
