Edna V. Sargent, 73, died Tuesday, April 25, 1995 at the Huron Regional Medical Center of cancer.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 28 at the Presbyterian Church in Wessington with Reverend Aaron Hyde officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery.
Edna Verna Harmening was born October 21, 1921 at Redfield to Fred and Ella (Kissner) Harmening. She went to school at Crandon and helped with the family farm until her marriage.
On August 18, 1946 she married Roger Winfield Sargent at Redfield. Following their
marriage they lived and farmed around the Tulare and Boniilla area until 1952. They then moved near Wessington and farmed there until their retirement in 1986. They moved to
Wessington in 1982.
Edna was very active in all community affairs. She was a member of the Presbyterian
Church of Wessington, the Eatern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Turtle Creek Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Justin Hedge in 1979.
She is survived by her husband, Roger, of Wessington; three sons and their spouses,
Roger of Torrington, Wyoming, Ronald and Karen of Huron, Larry and Rhonda of Huron;
two daughters and their spouses, Sharon and Kent Hedge of Huron and Mary Ann and
Dean Hedge of Wessington; sixteen grandchildren, Jamie, Kari, Scott and Brett Sargent, Byran, Kevin Sargent, Brandon, Brady Sargent, Kim and Kaci Fults, Duane, Angela Hedge, Shelly and Gene Wagner, Jody and Jade Hedge; one brother, Howard Harmening of Redfield; four sisters, Cleora and her husband Clark Binger of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Betty Skinner of Redfield, Clariece Robinson of Redfield and Bernice Willis of Redfield, and many nieces and nephews.
