Final Rites Held For William McGirr, Wessington Resident
Funeral services for William McGirr, 78, who died Sunday evening * at his home in Wessington, were held Wednesday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church in Wessington. The Rev. E. A. Gruneich was the officating cleryman and burial was made in the Wessington Cemetery.
McGirr was born March 10, 1893, in Ireland, the son of Sam and Roseanna McGirr. He came to the United States with his parents at an early age. In 1902 they moved to a farm at Wessington and he resided on this farm 58 years until retiring in 1960 when they moved to Wessington. He married Mabel McGirr July 7, 1961.
Survivors include his widow, two stepsons, Clifford McGirr, Whitewood; Clarence McGirr, Phoenix, Arizona; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) McNeil, Rapid City; Mrs. Chester (Hazel) McNeil, Huron; one brother, James, Wessinton; 14 stepgrandchildren and 16 great-stepgrandchildren.
His parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
