Henry C. Knecht, 82, of Miller, South Dakota died Wednesday, August 12, 1992, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.
Henry Christian Knecht was born February 16, 1910, at Lowry. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational at Lowry where he served as an usher and trustee for many years.
He and his wife, Esther, lived on the family farm west of Lowry until 1976 when they moved to Miller. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Miller.
He became a resident of Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller in 1989. He died at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre following complications from hip surgery August 12.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Rosemore, and her husband, Loren, of Miller; two step-granddaughters, Dion Ingersol and her husband, Thom, and Dawnell Miller and her husband, Duane, all of Elko, Nevada; one step great-granddaughter and two step great-grandson; one brother, Leo Knect of Miller; one sister, Mrs. William (Matilda) Schilling of Gettysburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister and six brothers.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 1992 at First Presbyterian Church, Miller, with Rev. Michael McCallum officiating. Organist was Janice Palmer and soloist, Wanda Stevens. Active pallbearers were Ed Mareska, Delbert Jury, Jim Evans, Daniel Wagner, Duane Knecht, and LaWayne Knecht.
Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller. Reck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
