REDFIELD - Mary A. Klapperich, 91, of Redfield, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, at James VaIley Healthcare Center in Redfield.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield, with the Rev. John Fischer officiating. Burial. will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Turton.
A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Visitation will begin this morning at the funeral home.
Mary A. Halfman was born Dec. 24, 1905, at Turton, to Anton and Frances (Retterath) Halfman. She attended Little Flower Convent School in Turton.
She married Emil Klapperich Sept. 27, 1926, at Turton. They farmed in the Turton-Conde area until 1944, when they moved to Redfield.
In 1946, they moved to St. Lawrence where she was a cook in the St. Lawrence school system for many years.
They moved to Turton for a few years and had been at the James Valley Healthcare Center since 1985. Her husband died in 1986.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Redfield, and Miles-Davis VFW Auxiliary of Turton.
She is survived by six daughters, Delores (Claude) Hamilton and Marjorie Moon, both of Redfield, Ethel Hagen of Orient, Joannee (Daryl) McGirr of Fruita, Colo., Phyllis Merrill of Kearney, Neb., and Rose Marie Forester of Lincoln, Neb.; three sons, Robert L. (Arlene) Klapperich of Lincoln, Neb., Donald J. (Donna) Klapperich of Rapid City, and Michael, J. (Gelia) Klapperich of Pickney, Mich.; four grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one half brother, Joseph Thome of Turton; and one half sister, Frances Becker of Turton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her stepfather, Matt Thome, one son, two grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, two great-grandchildren and two
