Joseph Jurries, 88, formerly of Orient, died Saturday, July 6, 1985 at Prairie Good
Joseph Albert Jurries was born June 12, 1897 to Martha Horn and Adolph Jurries in
Honeywell, Missouri. The family through the years lived in Chicago, Fairmont, Minnesota
and Zell, Rockham and Orient. He had four sisters, Florence, Hilda, Rose and Clara and
two brothers, Charles and Edward.
During his working years he managed the lumber yard, farmed, worked for Bill Beyers and Louie Miesner. Before retirement he was caretaker of the Prairie View Cemetery in Orient.
He and his sister, Florence, had been together since their mother passed away in 1932.
He raised Florence's daughter, Maxine. He and Florence moved to the Prairie Good
Samaritan Home, Miller, in April of this year.
Up until this summer, his pride and joy was his yard in Orient, which he loved to keep
green and beautiful.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 10 at the Reck Funeral Home with Rev.
James Towler officiating. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, Orient.
