Henry 'Wales' Cotton, 87, died Friday, June 17, 1983 at Prairie Good Samaritan Center.
He was born July 10, 1895 near Parker in Turner County, South Dakota, the son of Phillip and Lucy (Dresback) Cotton. He moved to Hand County in 1911 and farmed in Pleasant Valley Township.
He married Inez Mary Harris July 10, 1929 in Huron. In 1936 they moved to Oregon where they lived for one year then moved to a farm in Grand Township. In 1944 they moved to a farm in St. Lawrence Township where he lived until his retirement in 1971. His wife, Inez died in 1963. *(Feb. 22)
He married Anna Blecker in December, 1970 at Aberdeen and lived in Aberdeen until entering Prairie Good Samaritan Center, Miller in August, 1980.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Donald, Yankton. Howard, Arizona City, AZ, Richard, St. Lawrence and Thomas, Valley Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Maxine) Lamm, Dennison, MN and Mrs. Gilbert (Ardith) Bristlin, Belle Plaine, MN; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, John Max Cotton, Woodburn, OR and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Haigh, Miller and Mrs. Hiram (Alcinda) Crecelius, Sacramento, CA.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Inez, an infant daughter and two brothers, Ross and Miles.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 20, 1983 at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Huron with Bishop Paul Byrd, Blayton Whitney, Donald Lee and Claude Manning officiating. Burial was in GAR Cemetery, Miller.
Pallbearers were Greg Cotton, Jeff Cotton, Ken Cotton, Tim Bristlin, Michael Lamm and Raymond Caffee.
