Ruth E. Christiansen, 46, of St. Lawrence died of cancer on Wednesday, May 10, 1995 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday, May 13, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Miller with Rev. Donald Molumby officiating. Burial was in St. Ann's Cemetery, Miller.
Ruth Elaine Deering was born October 20, 1948 to Harry and Martha (Hauf) Deering at
Burke. In 1954 she moved with her family to Pierre until 1973. Ruth moved to Miller and
operated the Ranch Cafe from 1973 to 1978.
On May 15, 1976 she married Joel Christiansen at Miller. They lived at St. Lawrence.
She worked for several years at Prairie Good Samaritan Center. At the time of her death, she cleaned for many people and businesses in and around Miller.
She took an active interest in her son, Trevor's activities, including becoming 4-H leader for the Grand 4-H'ers.
She was a Master Gardener and used her talent to lanscape her own flower, vegetable and herb gardens. She dried her flowers and herbs and used them in a variety of craft items.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joel and son, Trevor, both of St. Lawrence; her
parents, Harry and Martha Deering of Miller; and one brother, Duane Deering of Yankton.
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
