Andrew John Brown was born July 28, 1919, in Hand County to Alex and Sophia Brown
and died Monday, October 29, 1984, at 7:54 p.m. at the Hand County Memorial Hospital,
Miller, South Dakota, from a heart attack.  He had been ill seven years with asthma and
emphysema.  He seemed to be happy to feel good all day and made people happy all day.

Andrew had spent his early life in the area of Orient and attended school there.

He had his first communion and was confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Orient.  He had been baptized earlier at St. Ann's in Miller.

In 1934, he moved with his family to a ranch north of Harrold, in Sully county.  In 1943, he
moved to the Brown Brothers Ranch, located in Hyde County, along the Sully County and
Hyde County boundary.

Andrew spent most of his time in World War II in communications at the Aluetian Islands,
while his brother, Archie, was in the South Pacific.  After being discharged in 1945, they
returned to join in a most peaceful farming-ranching partnership.  They were so close, they never even argued once, which even seemed to amaze themselves.

Andrew, with an occasional helping hand from another family sibling, cared for his widowed mother until she died in June, 1977.  He was warm, cheerful, friendly, honest, talkative, hard-working, generous, opinionated and a normal human being turned Christian because he loved and trusted God.

On October 4, 1977, he married Nadine Elaine Kayton Hamlin at the Immaculate Heart
Catholic Church in Gand Junction, Colorado.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine;  Clarence Brown and his wife, Gertrude, Estelline;
Archie Brown and wife, Delores, Harrold;  Howard Brown and wife, Tudy
[Trudy ?], Onida;  LaRayne Hinkle and husband, Don, Bonita, California;  Marie Wargo and husband, Howard, Longmont, Colorado;  Patty Stephens and husband, Bob, Mesquite, Texas;  Lucille Bostow, Redford, Michigan and a multitude of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmy.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 1984 at St. John's Catholic Church, Harrold with Father Paul Bachman officiating.  Burial was in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Larry Kindopp, Ernie Stirling, Steve Busse, Calvin Stirling, Rocky Peterson and Scott Gregg.

Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Lynch, Robert Stirling, Charles Kindopp, Clarence
Busse, Otto Butzmann, Mac Zilverberg, Ervin Hank, Emory Hinkle, Ervin Bayne, Lee
