Walter H. Brons, 88, St. Lawrence, died Tuesday, July 23, 1985, at the Prairie Good
Samaritan Center, Miller.
Walter Henry Brons was born October 10, 1896, at Honey Creek, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs.
Sophus (Marie) Brons. He was raised in Iowa and came to Hand County in 1920. He lived in Newell in 1935 and 1936. He returned to the St. Lawrence area and for the past 25 years he had spent his winters in Arizona.
He married Erma Magness January 15, 1918, in Council Bluff, Iowa. She preceded him in death March 1977. He later married Elsie Hovelson January 17, 1979 in Mesa, Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie of St. Lawrence; three daughters, Mrs. Alex (Mericlaire)
Kulm of St. Lawrence, Mrs. Neal (Margery) Bridenbaugh of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Robert
(Helen) Hall of New Underwood; two stepsons, Charles Hovelson of St. Lawrence and Dale Hovelson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Erma, three brothers, one
stepdaughter, two great-granddaughters.
The funeral was 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 1985, in the St. Lawrence Community Church
with the Rev. Richard Ransom and the Rev. Val Swartzendruber officiating. Burial was in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Kulm, Mike Kulm, Robert Hall, Jr., Dennis Kulm, Steve Bridenbaugh and Danny Hall.
