Ella Foss Bohning, formerly of Miller, SD died in Wayzata, Minnesota on September 22, 1977, at the age of 97 years, 10 months.  She had lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Mike Henry for nearly 20 years.

Mrs. Bohning was born on December 4, 1879 in Emherdorf, Schleswig Holstein, Germany to Hans and Catharina Hansen Vohs.The family came to the United States in May, 1885, and settled in Iowa.

On August 10, 1910, Ella married Alfred Bohning, and they moved to Miller.

Mr. Bohning and his brother Ed, formed a partnership and purhased and operated the store which became known as Bohning Brothers, located on the corner of Broadway and 3rd Street.  They continued to operate the store until 1938.

Mr. and Mrs. Bohning had two children, Paul and Mildred. Mrs. Bohning was preceded in death by her husband and son.

Mrs. Bohning had been active until two weeks ago, at which time she fell and broke her hip.

Funeral services were held Monday at Reck Funeral Home with Rev. James Smucker conducting the service.  Interment was made in the G.A.R. Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Donald Henry, Patrick Henry, Oral Wilson, Donald H. Vodegel, Carl Johanson and Cecil Wilson.
