Gladys E. Bardahl, 83, of Miller, died Thursday, May 11, 1995 at Hand County Memorial
Hospital in Miller.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller with the
Rev. Marlin Vetter officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cememtery.
Gladys Ester Bardahl was born March 2, 1912 in Canby, Minnesota to Ole and Isabelle
She was born and raised in the Canby area and worked as a waitress until her marriage to Arvid Martin Bardahl on December 8, 1943. They farmed in the Porter, Minnesota area until Arvid became a manager with Sexauer elevators. This found their home in many small South Dakota towns and finally settled them in Wessington for many happy years.
From here they traveled to Springfield, Oregon, which then became home for many more
years until her husband's death in May of 1975.
While living in Springfield she was a cook at a nursing home. She was also a child care
provider and this is how Jon Ford became a special young man in her life, and she
considered him a grandson.
She then returned to Miller where she made her home at the Miller Manor until her death.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was member of Hope Lutheran Church for several years while her home was in Springfield. At the time of her death, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller. She was always an active member of the church. She was a very active person and enjoyed life to its fullest. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, camping and playing cards.
She is survived by two daughters, and sons-in-law, Gloria and Lyle Rust of Harrisburg,
Oregon, and Darlene and Ray Palmer of St. Lawrence; two granddaughters and their
husbands, Sheila and Steve Nordquist, and Shawnette and Rick Doane; one grandson and his fiance, Ryan Palmer and Daisy Hunsley; one sister and her husband, Lilly and
Wallace Reyerson of Canby, Minnesota; extended family, Hand and Robert Ford and Jon of Tuscon, Arizona, and many friends at the Miller Manor.
She was preceded in deatth by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.
Pallbearers were Jim Lewis, Roger Engelcke, Gene Norton, Gerald Palmer, Nova Palmer and Ed Kluthe.
