Norma Yerdon, 80, of Aberdeen, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Heart Hospital in Sioux
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 27 at First United Methodist church in
Aberdeen with the Rev. Eldon Reich officiating. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park.
Norma Florence Locke was born January 27, 1924, to Arthur and Nelle (Love) Locke at
Miller, South Dakota where she was raised. Following graduation from Miller High School graduation in 1942 she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she worked at General Motors.
She returned to Miller in 1946 and married Royce "Bus" Yerdon on September 19, 1946. In February 1947, they moved to Faulkton, where they owned and operated the Standard Oil Service Station for 30 years. Norma was employed at the Faulkton School for 20 years. In 1999 they moved to Aberdeen.
Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was presently serving as Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge #75 of Redfield. She was a member of the Past
She was a good cook, and a wonderful mother who had a deep interest in her family.
She enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint, working crossword puzzles and playing cards. She
made "awesome" caramel rolls.
She is survived by her husband; four sons, Timothy (Diane) Yerdon of Milbank, Thomas
A. (Marsha) Yerdon of Aberdeen, Terry G. (Julie) Yerdon of Black Hawk, and Todd L.
Yerdon of Milbank; one brother, Kenneth (Nona Hines) Locke of St. Lawrence; eight
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gregory Michael Yerdon and
Steven Eugene Yerdon; one sister, Ardath Locke; and two brothers, Richard Locke and
Robert Locke (March 27, 2001).
