Orval W. Williams, 89, of Spokane, Washington, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004.
A memorial service was held November 6 at the Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Greenacres, WA. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
Orval was born July 13, 1915 to Otis and Nellie Williams on a farm south of St. Lawrence, South Dakota. At the age of six, the family moved by covered wagon to another farm north of St. Lawrence, where his father raised mules and horses. *He attended grade school in York township. He graduated from St. Lawrence High School in 1933.
He joined the U.S. Armed Forces in May 1942, and spent the next three years in England and France.
He returned to the U.S. in 1945 and moved to Washington state, where he married Gertrude Anderson March 1947.
Most of his working life was spent at Early Dawn Dairy and he retired from there in 1971.
For Orval, a perfect day was spent on his boat out on the lake. His passion was fishing and he passed his love of the sport to his children and grandchildren. His enthusiasm for life was contagious and his sense of humor and generous heart were gifts to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; three children, Julie Williams, Orval Eugene (Ou-Yang) Williams and Cheryl Williams; four grandchildren; his brother, Percy of Miller; and two sisters, Olive Heinzerling of Huron and Vivian Lawless of San Diego, Calif.
* He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Everett, Francis, and Estol, and one sister, Daisy Lowther.
