Bernard W. Wernsmann, 75, of Redfield, S.D., died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at his
residence.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Aug. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Liborius Catholic
Church, Polo, with Father William Osborn officiating. Burial was in St. Liborius
Cemetery, Polo.

Casketbearers were Phillip Wernsmann, Mike Schlechter, Rob Schlechter, Ed Anglin,
Larry Anglin, Luke Wernsmann, Dean Schlechter and Tony Wernsmann.

Bernard was born March 8, 1929, at Headlee Ranch near Interior, S.D., to Phil and Mary
(Maloney) Wernsmann. He graduated from Polo High School and farmed for a short time before joining the United States Army. After his discharge, he moved to Minneapolis,
Minn., and worked as a machinist at Graco for 35 years before retiring to Redfield.

He enjoyed fishing and electronics and television repair.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Stephanie (Donald) Rowell of Anoka, Minn., and
Debra (Michael) Kiedrowski of Andover, Minn.; one stepson, Ken (Jennifer) Davis of
Ingelside, Texas; eight step-grandchildren; five sisters, Marie Mattson of Seattle, Wash.,
Lucille (Alvin) Anglin of Polo, Kathryn (Maurice) Schlechter of Polo, Betty Schlechter of
Miller, and Dorothy (Edmund) Zens of Miller; and one brother, Phil (Sally) Wernsmann of
Kimball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
