Merlyn Harry Throop, 74, Escondido, Calif., died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his home
after a brave battle with cancer.
Merlyn Harry Throop was born December 21, 1929, to Harry and Grace (Deuter) Throop.
He served in the Marine Corps from December 12, 1951 until December 4, 1953,
stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he met and married Barbara Forgie on May
28, 1956. They lived in San Clemente, Calif., until an auto accident took the life of
Barbara in 1978.
He then moved to Escondido, where he found a home with some property to have a
garden. He enjoyed planting and sharing his garden and fruit trees with those he loved.
He is survived by his mother, Grace Throop of Miller; four children, Sharon Throop in
California; Robert (Cathy) Throop of Sparks, Nev.; Carol (Dave) Hemphill of Rogers,
Arkansa; and Bonnie (Brian) Maxey of Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren; one brother, Dwight (Delores) Throop of Valley Center, Calif.;
and one sister, Wanda (Max) Harrell, Miller, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his wife and father.
