Lori Engelcke Swaney, 41, of St. Lawrence, S.D., died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 as the result of an automobile accident.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10 from 1-7 p.m. at Reck Funeral Home in Miller with a service of comfort at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Her funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller with the Rev. George Wieland officiating. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller.

Lori S. Engelcke was born July 4, 1963 to Roger and LaVonne (Fechner) Engelcke in Huron, S.D. Following graduation from Miller High School in 1981, she attended Northern State University from 1981-82.

On May 7, 1983, she married Duran Swaney at Trinity Lutheran Church. They had two sons, Brent and Tyler.

She worked a variety of jobs including Sioux Valley Courier, waitressing, matron for Hand County Law Enforcement, drove the Hand County transportation bus and helped out on the family farm. When anyone needed help, she was always willing to lend a hand.

She was a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller.

She enjoyed every moment playing all sports including softball, bowling, golfing, darts, pool and cards. She was a fun-loving friend to many with her big smile and listening ear.

Survivors include her husband, Duran of St. Lawrence; two sons, Brent of Miller and Tyler of St. Lawrence; her father, Roger Engelcke of Miller; two sisters, Pam (Mike) DeReu of Custer and Susan (Todd) Oligmueller of Pierre; her maternal grandmother, Luella Fechner of Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVonne Engelcke, June 8, 2002; maternal grandfather, Edwin Fechner, February 20, 2004; and paternal grandparents, Adolf and Verna Engelcke.
