Ralph Stanfield, age 74, of Huron, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Beverly Health Care Center in Redfield.
His funeral service was held Friday, April 30, at the Kuhler Funeral Home in Huron with the Rev. Todd Browers officiating. Burial was in Restlawn Memory Gardens with military rites by the Hershman-Gordon American Legion Post #59 of Wolsey.
Ralph Stanfield was born December 29, 1929, in Artesian, S.D. to Dean C. and Grace (Butts) Stanfield. He received his education in country schools and graduated from Artesian High School in 1949. Ralph farmed with his father, then entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and served until 1953, serving in the Korean War.
After his discharge from the Army, he worked at Armour Foods and Huron Tank and Culvert, and then moved to California where he worked as an electrician for 30 years. Ralph moved back to Huron and worked at Dakota Pork for 10 years, until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Hershman-Gordon American Legion Post #59 in Wolsey.
He is survived by five sisters, Alice Joy, Janet Bobeldyke, Helen Estes, and Donna Stanfield, all of Huron, and Betty (Gordon) Seter, of Billings, Mont.; three brothers Eldon (Delilah) Stanfield of Huron, Robert Stanfield, of Wessington, and Bruce (Sharon) Stanfield, of San Bernadino, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
