Olga H. Semmler, 91, of the Highmore Health Care Center, Highmore, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Luze Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30 at the Luze Funeral Home, Highmore, with Pastor Roger Day officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, Ree Heights.

Olga Helena Rosenau was born January 25, 1913 to Christian and Julianne (Seitz) Rosenau at Parkston, S.D. Her family moved to Ree Heights when she was a child. She attended rural schools in the Ree Heights area and attended Miller High School for two years.

She married Rudolph Semmler in Parkston in 1935. They farmed in the Parkston area for a time and then moved to the Ree Heights area, where they lived on several farms in the Ree Heights and Highmore areas. They moved into Ree Heights in the early 1970s.

Olga will be remembered by her family for her caring ways, the "strudel" dinners and home-made ice cream that she fixed for family gatherings, and her love of making quilts.

She was the Ree Heights News correspondent for the Miller Press for a number of years.
She was an active member of the Ree Heights Community Church and always looked forward to running the country store at the church's annual fall bazaar.

In recent years, her great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene (Robert) Sandstedt of Boring, Ore.; daughters-in law, Jan Semmler of Yankton, and Catherine Siefken of Pierre; grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Semmler, April Semmler, Wendy Semmler and Wanda Semmler; great-grand-children, Thomas Newton and Emily Elizabeth Semmler; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Rudolph in 1992 *; two sons, Newton and Lester; two sisters, five brothers and one half-brother.
