Adeline O. Martin, 83, of Miller, S.D., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Miller with the Rev. David Andrews officiating. Burial was in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis.
Casketbearers were Gary Bates Sr., Ron Jennings, Merle Jenner, Dennis Fawcett and Duane Aymar.
Reck Funeral Home, Miller, was in charge of arrangements.
Adeline Martin was born September 23, 1921 at Turtle Lake, N.D., to Christ and Sophie (Meidinger) Martin.
She married Edwin P. Martin on November 6, 1945 at Carbon, Alberta, Canada. She lived in Canada until her marriage to Edwin. They moved to Streeter, N.D., in 1945. In 1948, they moved to Bismarck, N.D., where she worked at JCPenney. She was active in the Bismarck Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
After moving to Miller in 1963, she worked at Rancho Western Wear for nine years. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Miller where she sang in the choir for many years.
She was dedicated to her husband and children. She was a homemaker and spent numerous hours creating loving masterpieces of knitted, crocheted and tatted items.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna (John) Tuell of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sons, Kenneth (Karen) Martin of Rapid City and Ronald (Doris) Martin of Prattville, Ala.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin P. Martin, August 8, 2004; one granddaughter, four brothers and five sisters.
