Vernon D. LaBau, 48, of Wessington, S.D., died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington with the Rev. Allen Sager officiating.
Reck Funeral Home, Miller, was in charge of arrangements.
Vernon Dee LaBau was born June 2, 1956 in Huron to Virgil and Mildred (Krauter) LaBau. He graduated from Miller High School in 1974.
Following graduation, he moved to Rapid City where he was employed as a foreman at Dakota Steel for 17 years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, sports and family.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred LaBau of Wessington; a daughter, Krystal Jones of Rapid City; three brothers, Doyle (Carol) LaBau of Rapid City, Lyle (Sally) LaBau of Dallas, Texas, and Val (Jeannie) LaBau of Miller; two sisters, Virgie (Don) Jundt of Rapid City and Mona (Don) Magnuson of Gillette, Wyo., six nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter and two nephews.
