ohn A. Kinsey, 91, of Lehigh, Iowa, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at Grandview Health
Care Center in Dayton, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, at the Christian Church in
Lehigh, with Pastor Richard Laird officiating. Burial was at the Dayton Cemetery.
John Arnold Kinsey was born September 2, 1912, on a farm near Miller, the son of
Walter and Gertie (Waters) Kinsey. He attended country schools and worked on farms in
the area of his birth.
In 1936, he farmed near Ramona, S.D., and in 1939 moved to Webster County, Dayton,
John married Helen L. Hinman on April 28, 1949, in Omaha, Neb. They lived northeast of
Pilot Mound, Iowa, farming in both Boone and Webster counties. John and Helen retired
in 1977 and moved to Lehigh, Iowa.
John was a member of the Lehigh Christian Church and Golden Memories Club, and
was a past member of the Lehigh Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen L. Kinsey of Lehigh; two brothers, Vernon
(Joanne) Kinsey of Boone, Iowa, and Dwight (Phyllis) Kinsey of Dayton, Iowa. He is also
survived by many nieces and nephews, which includes Joan (Wayne) Horsley,
Wessington; Evelyn Lichty, Huron; and Beverly (Paul) Bergman, White. S.D.
His parents, five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
