Betty J. Kenaston, 75, of Miller, S.D., died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Miller with the Rev. David Andrews officiating. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller.

Casketbearers will be Jonathann and Christopher Johnson, Matthew and Nicholas Kenaston, Brian and Bruce Robison, Larry Schroetlin, Chris Yates, Dennis Yost, Brad and Robert C. Haun.

Reck Funeral Home, Miller, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Jane Audiss was born May 8, 1929 in Boyd County, Nebraska, to Arthur and Florence (Armfield) Audiss. She attended country school, District 48, in Boyd County, Neb., and graduated from high school in 1947 from Butte, Neb.

On February 20, 1951, she married Harold "Harry" Kenaston in Spencer, Neb. In 1952, they moved to the southern part of Hand County where they farmed and ranched until March of 1988 when they moved into Miller.

She had a deep love for all of her grandchildren. She loved visiting with friends, embroidering, playing cards and bingo. She was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #3214, lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary #38, and a member of TOPS #371 of St. Lawrence.

Survivors include her loving husband, Harold; five children, Dennis (Diana) Kenaston of Rapid City, Barbara Johnson of Whiting, Iowa, Roger (Julie) Kenaston of St. Lawrence, Randy (Debbie) Kenaston of Rapid City and Edward Allen Kenaston of Mitchell; ten grandchildren, Ammie Kenaston Trebbe, Jodi Kenaston Wineinger, Jonathann and Christopher Johnson, Jennifer, Jannelle, Matthew, Amber, Nicholas and Samantha Kenaston; one great-grandchild, Ella Jean, born to Ammie and Adam Trebbe; a brother, Dale (Joyce) Audiss of Butte, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Lee Audiss of Walker, Mo., and Wilma Audiss of Naper, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Florence Audiss; two brothers, Arthur Jr. and Darold Audiss; one sister, Lucille Schroetlin; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Schroetlin.
