Genevieve "Jennie" Fisher was born April 30, 1911, to John and Ada (Troyer) Fisher. She grew up on a farm northeast of Miller in the Sunbeam area. She attended Sunday School and church at the Sunbeam Church. She attended Odessa and Rosedale Schools. In later years, all of her children attended Rosedale School.
She married Edwin Jenner April 9, 1926. They lived on a farm northeast of St. Lawrence until Edwin's death in January 1969. Jennie then moved to St. Lawrence. In 1975 she purchased a home in Miller and lived there until 1997, when she sold her home and moved to the Miller Plaza, where she resided until her death.
She was a member of the Beulah Community Church and later became a member of the St. Lawrence Community Church. She was also a member of the Miller V.F.W. and the Senior Citizen's Center in Miller.
Jennie, as she was called, loved having her children come home for Sunday dinners. She would spend all day on Saturday getting ready for Sunday dinner, which usually consisted of fried chicken. As her children grew up, they always enjoyed bringing home their special friends, who later joined the family, for those special Sunday dinners. Jennie also took in pheasant hunters to earn some extra money.
All of Jennie's children and grandchildren have enjoyed the hand-quilted quilts she made. She also did quilting for other people. Another of her projects was making stuffed animals with her sister Gladys. In her later years, Jennie kept busy embroidering dish towels, pillow cases and crocheting hundreds of dish cloths. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Jennie is survived by seven children: Darlene (Harvey) Lausen of Cosmopolis, Wash.; Raymond Jenner of Huron; Thelma (Harold) Grimm of Catalina, Ariz.; Evelyn (Lyle) Marshall of Rapid City; Merle (Judy) Jenner of Miller; Roger (Marvis) Jenner of Brookings; Donna (Charles) Riley of Madison; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi Karge of Blue Earth, Minn., and Myra Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin; her parents; five sisters and two brothers; two grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy Jenner.
