She traveled the western counties of South Dakota for the next seven years, becoming district manger in 1942. After marrying in 1945 she became a homemaker until she returned to the work force as a bookkeeper in 1960 at the Malmstrom AFB NCO Club. As a military wife, she traveled extensively in Europe, living in England and Germany with her family from 1955 to 1959. When her husband Harold decided to retire from the Air Force they were living in Great Falls and they decided to spend their retirement years there.

Hildegard is survived by her daughter, Mary Kaye (Richard) Kettlewell, of Calistoga, Calif.; son, Michael (Judith Downs) Donovan of Tigard, Ore.; a sister, Louise Ulmer, and a brother, Ed Kluthe, both of Miller; as well as two grandchildren.
