D.L. Croll, 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, died Friday, July 16, 2004. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Luke's Hospital Foundation, 800 West 47th Street, Suite 204, Kansas City, MO 64112.
Dwight was born April 19, 1917, to prominent Hand County pioneers, Lewis B. and
Minnie Andrews Croll. He was the youngest of five children. He attended Miller High
School and continued his education at Mankato School of Business, Mankato, Minn.
D.L. married Lucille Bantz on June 15, 1940 in Aberdeen. He was employed with
Fairmont Foods in Canton and Huron, S.D.; Pittsburgh, Pa., and Kansas City, Mo. for
40 years, until his retirement in 1980.
He enjoyed music. He was a talented organist, percussionist and story teller. His
hobbies included woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a 50
year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille; sisters-in-law, Edith Croll of Miller and
Marna (Earle) Hagen of Ipswich; brother-in-law Roger Stensland, Washington; nephew
Larry Croll of Arizona; nieces, Pamela Bain of Michigan, Kathryn Stobbs of Minnesota,
and Carola Winkle of Nebraska; 12 grand-nieces and grand-nephews and eight
great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews.
