Louisa Edith Crackel, 82, of Turpin, Oklahoma, formerly of Ree Heights, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, June 22, at 10 a.m. at the Reck Funeral Home, Miller, South Dakota with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial was at Morningside Cemetery in Ree Heights.
She was born September 25, 1921, at Hammill, South Dakota to Harry Garfield and Louisa Edith Snethen. Upon graduation from Winner High School in 1939, she continued her education at Huron and Black Hills College and received her first grade teacher's certificate.
In 1946 she married Wayne William Crackel in Winner. She taught in rural schools in Hand and Tripp Counties in South Dakota, and came to the Turpin, Oklahoma area in 1977, where she was a home care person for many years.
She was a member of the Turpin United Methodist Church, where she served as a board member, and was also a member of Beaver, Oklahoma's Women's Aglow, serving as a secretary. She was involved with the Turpin Senior Citizens and Turpin School's after-school youth program.
She is survived by one son, Bill (Kathy) Crackel of Loveland, Colorado; three daughters, Betty (Richard) Glenn of Turpin, Oklahoma, Janis (Mike) Burrows of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Jackie Hansen, Meade, Kansas.; one brother, Harry (Delia) Snethen of Springfield, South Dakota.; one sister, Mary Beth Crackel of Miller; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on November 4, 1988; an infant daughter; one brother; and one grandson.
