James Royce Bush, 81, Sterling, Illinois and formerly of Rock Falls, Ill., died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Community General Hospital Medical Center in Sterling.

A committal service will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Lawrence, South Dakota at a later date.

James Royce Bush was born at Miller in Hand County on November 26, 1922, to Olga
Monington and Royce Bush. He attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from St.
Lawrence High School in 1940.

He was inducted into the Army January 22, 1943. He was a Sergeant in the 18th
Armored Infantry Battalion, 16th Armored Division, and served in Central Europe. He
was honorably discharged February 6, 1946.

He married Avis Dawson at Pierre on January 17, 1948.

He worked at various jobs throughout the Midwest. He worked at National Manufacturing
Co. at Rock Falls, Ill., from 1972 until 1987, when he retired.

He was a member of the Rock Falls American Legion and the Rock Falls V.F.W.

Avis died September 5, 2000, and Jim entered Sterling Pavilion Nursing home at
Sterling, Ill., July 2, 2003.

He is survived by four sisters, Inez (Don ) Schade of Redfield, Betty (Ed) Schaffer of Zell,
Rosemary (Joe) Nuhsbaumer of Zell, and June (Jack) Ehrich of Zell; four brothers, Royce
(Ila Mae) Bush of Redfield, Keith Bush of Cypress, Calif., Sidney (Frances) Bush of
Victorville, Calif., and Skip (Helen) Bush of Puyallup, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Trudy
Bush of Damascus, Pa.; one stepsister, Fern Trommerhauser of Oroville, Calif.; four
stepbrothers, Nova (Irene) Palmer and Gerald (LaVerta) Palmer, all of Miller, John
(Betty) Palmer of Pierre, and Ken (Alma) Palmer of Sun City, Ariz.; and many nieces,
nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Avis; a brother, Don Bush; two
sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Beverly Beich; two stepsisters; three stepbrothers; four
nephews and one niece.
