Marvin Glenn Benning, 82, of Mesa, Ariz., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at home.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Mesa.
Marvin Glenn Benning was born September 15, 1921, at Rockham, South Dakota, to Walter and Lois Benning. He grew up in the Miller area and graduated from Miller High School.
He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged.
He married Betty Marie Keating December 21, 1946 at Miller.
He worked for Red Owl Grocery stores in Chamberlain and Mitchell. While there, he oined Kraft Foods Company in 1952 and lived in Aberdeen and in Moorhead, Minnesota. He retired from Kraft in 1983.
The couple moved to Fargo, N.D. in 1985 and spent winters in Arizona before moving to
Mesa, Ariz. in 1993.
He enjoyed golf all his life and twice in 2000 he had a hole-in-one. He enjoyed taking
road trips with his wife, children and grandchildren, and enjoyed visiting with family,
friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his children, Barbara "Barb" Keeler of Duluth, Minnesota, and Richard
"Rick" Benning of Mesa, Arizona; son-in-law and great friend Charles "Chuck" Keeler of
Duluth, Minnesota; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Benning of Florida and W. Gene Benning of Miller; and one sister, Marilyn Lane of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, Walter and Lois, and one brother,
