I'd better add something about the modern day descendants. I owe a deep gratitude to two family members who have genealogy websites: Jeremy White & Bill McPhail (of Parkland, WA, USA). Jeremy, in particular, has sent much new information, thoroughly checked what I’ve sent him, and suggested alternative scenarios.
Over the past year, while writing this, I’ve
been in touch with, in person, the following Boom descendants and spouses
(among others):
Pat Wyatt (Dora Patricia Cullen) and her sister
Pauline Craig (my third cousins),
Glen Paterson (Glennys Ratcliffe) and her sons
Ian & Murray Paterson (my second cousins),
Frederick William Handasyde and his wife (my
third cousins),
Betty McQueen and family (at the funeral of her
husband Allan),
Marjorie Rose and her son Bruce and daughter in
law Heather Milligan.
Marjorie Rose died of cancer in Melbourne aged
91 on the 9 Apr 2000. The others are all living in Melbourne, Victoria,
Australia. Glen’s “Jamaica Box” contained the original Family Register and the
original letters of Jessie Astwood.
And I’ve been in touch with the following Boom
descendants and spouses by email:
Jeremy
White – Natick, MA, USA
Sally McPhail – Melbourne, Vic, Australia
Wendy Lee – Runaway Bay, Jamaica
Rosemary Dodd – Oxford, UK.
Some modern descendants that I mustn’t forget,
even though I haven’t been in touch, are the Turner family of Tulloch Farm, Bog
Walk, Jamaica. The Turners have been collecting family tree information which
has been passed to me three ways, through Bill McPhail, through Jeremy White, and
through Wendy Lee.
Since the first edition I’ve been in touch with
two more direct descendents who have provided more information.:
Nicholas Payne – A descendent of Robert Jackson
by his second wife Susan Campbell (i.e. a Jackson rather than Boom descendent)
Ella Mary Yates Massy
THORP / ELLIS – A descendent of the Massy family
Thank you all.
