The family register is the core of this book. What follows comes from three versions. The main version is the copy made by William Bryan Hall and is held by Glenys Ratcliffe/Paterson. It also contains:

Additions in 1925 based on a letter from Jessie Astwood.

Extra notes in pencil on the first page and on the 1803 page that relate to Isabella’s find of Horsfall in the “illustrated” “old Jamaica annual”.

Pencil on the last page for Melbourne General Cemetery inscriptions & the Kinkead marriage in Jamaica.

A second version is a black leather-bound book owned by Angèle Vidal-Hall but was originally hand-copied from W B Hall’s version by Duncan Aubrey Paterson or his wife Isabel. It has an extra 2 ½ pages for the descendents to 1923 of Duncan Aubrey and his brother Arthur George Paterson. My father’s birth in 1918 is the second last entry.

A third version is a photocopy inherited and owned by me (David Paterson). It was hand-copied from W B Hall’s version, probably by Duncan Aubrey Paterson or his wife Isabel. It has four extra pages, the first is based on a letter from Jessie Astwood. The other three contain Australian grave inscriptions (mostly from Melbourne General Cemetery).
