- John West enlisted as a Marine a member of the 58th
Plymouth Company . He was stationed on board the ship
" Scarborough " and it was on this ship he left
England for Australia. Upon his arrival in Sydney he
served as member of Captain James Campbell's 's Company as
a Drum Major . John was sent to Norfolk Island on the
ship "Supply" on the 4th of March 1790. He
returned to Sydney where he enlisted in the Royal New
South Wales Regiment .Following his discharge he was
granted 25 acres of land at Concord . Not much more is
known.
