!OCCUPATION: Soldier. 39th Regiment of Foot from 1803.
Detached to 73rd Regiment of Foot on 15 Apr 1809 for
service in
Australia. Arrived Sydney with Lachlan Macquarie in the
"Dromedary" 28 Dec 1809 and served until 24 Dec
1814 when the
Regiment sailed in the "General Barry" for
Columbo, Ceylon. The Regiment served in Ceylon until 24th
Dec 1815. 73rd Regiment
arrived in England in 1816. He was transferred back to
the 39th Regiment of Foot. Discharge Certificate - Nov
1816 being worn out
and length of service after 13 years service - age 29
years, height 5 ft 7 inches, brown hair, hazel eyes, dark
complexion, by trade a
Labourer. Private Soldier in NSW Royal Veterans Corps.
!MIGRATION: From England (London 6 May 1826) to Australia
(Sydney 13 Sep 1826) on "Orpheus" with the
Royal Veterans Corps
for service in Australia accompanied by his wife.
!PERSONAL: Land grant of 100 acres at Wollombi Brook -
possibly due to the death of John Wells, the land grant
went to David
Davis.
!DEATH: Died between 1832 and 1834
!PROBATE: Will dated 14 Dec 1832 - no probate record
