    History & Achievements :
     
    Scindian sank off the cost of Rio Marina, Elba, Italy on 3 November 1880. Scindian is widely considered the first convict ship to arrive in Western Australia, because it was the first to arrive after Western Australia became a penal colony.
     Received medical treatment on board the “Scindian” age 33
    On Board the Scindian the Captain was James Cammell and the Surgeon was John Gibson.
    John Gibson’s surgeon’s journal for the voyage is preserved in the Public Record Office in London. We can view this  on the AJCP microfilm reel 3209 which is in most public and archive libraries.
