    History & Achievements :

    George WADE (c1806*         ) (Private No. 295) attested at Clones Monaghan 3.5.1824 aged 17 years Weaver prior to enlistment. 5.5inches tall, fair complexion, blue eyes. Total service 22 years & 41 days.  - Mauritius 11 year; New South Wales-3years;New Zealand-17.6.1845 to 10.4.1847. 24.7.1847- Discharged unfit for service.  Character & Conduct: 3 medals for good conduct with pay.  6.5.1847- twice tried Court Marshall as a non-commissioned officer.  Detailed Medical Report:  George WADE / aged 40 years. Total service 22 years & 3 months./Nature of Disability: Chronic Rheumatism first apparent about one and a half years ago/ was stationed in New Zealand/ Attributed to cold and exposure to wet while on field service in New Zealand/ The disability had not been aggravated by vice or misconduct. Has been in hospital or has been exempted from active  duty since the disease first became apparent/ unable to march or wear crofs belts/Weaver prior to enlisting/Signed Sydney 5th. July 1847 - Surgeon.  (Information Sources: Mitchell Library)    George WADE married Mary McCORMICK , Dublin, Ireland C 1842. Issue: 9 children - 5 sons 4 daughters.   .   George & Mary died c 1878 in Sydney.( not as yet confirmed).
