Marine Private Michael
Tolan (.....1789)
- Michael Tolan enlisted in the
Royal marines as part of the 55th Portsmouth Company. He
served as part
- of the convict guard on board the
ship "Friendship" prior to its departure from
England. Following his arrival he served a part of Watkin
Tench's Company. On the 30th of April 1789 he and Private . Edward Odgers . disappeared in the bush while looking
for food. Their bodies were never recovered.
- It is not know whether any of his
family settled or if he had any family in Australia.
