Achievements :
- James was stationed at Williams in 1840, Bunbury
in 1844 and at Pinjarra from 1845 -47. He married
on 17th October 1844 at Bunbury to Mary Agnes WOLLASTON,
daughter of Rev John Ramsden WOLLASTON (later to
become the first Anglican Archdeacon of Western Australia)
Their first child, Mary Agnes STRAIN was born on 02 May
1845 at Pinjarra, but died prior to 1847.
Their second child, Jane Charlotte STRAIN was born 18th
January 1847 at Pinjarra. James, Mary and baby Jane left
with the Regiment for India in 1848 where James
apparently died prior to 1853. His widow Mary
remarried in Madras in 1853 prior to returning to New
South Wales by way of New Zealand.
