- Private #810 SADLER William of the 57th Regt Date
of enlistment 29/12/1813 in the West Middlesex Regiment,
57thRegimentof Foot.
He arrived 14/9/1825 on the "MEDINA"
(a convict ship) to Hobartown,Tasmania, then on to Sydney.In
Australia he also served on Melville Island - 1828 Port
Stephens - 1829/30Moreton Bay - 1831/32
He transferred to the 17th Regiment on 1/1/1831 because
the 57th was due togo to India and Sadlier and some
others chose to transfer to the 17th as it was the next
regiment to do garrison duty in the Australian colonies.
